About this opportunity
The Department of the Air Force Space Command is conducting market research for demolition services of Buildings 533 and 541 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, seeking potential small business contractors with expertise in site preparation. The project involves complete demolition of two buildings, including basements, slabs, sidewalks, and interior/exterior components, with specific requirements for asbestos and lead-based paint abatement. A mandatory site visit is scheduled for Thursday, March 13, 2025, departing from the Vandenberg Visitor's Center at 9:00 AM PST, with interested parties required to submit participant names and company information via email by Monday, March 10, 2025. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this opportunity is 238910 for Site Preparation Contractors, with a size standard of $19,000,000. While this is a sources sought announcement and not a formal Request for Quotes, the government will use the received information to determine the most appropriate acquisition approach.
The opportunity is set aside exclusively for small businesses, with a performance period of 240 days targeting completion by December 2024. Contractors must adhere to strict environmental and operational guidelines, including working during bird non-nesting season (August 15 - February 15) and submitting comprehensive project management plans 28 days prior to commencement. The demolition work requires precise utility line management, material disposal through the Vandenberg Recycling Center, and site restoration including backfilling and re-vegetation with a one-year maintenance warranty. Contractors will be expected to provide bi-weekly progress meetings and monthly status reports with photographic documentation. While specific award value is not disclosed, the project involves detailed technical requirements including asbestos containment surveys, environmental protection planning, and quality control measures that will likely influence contractor selection and evaluation.
