About this opportunity

The Department of the Air Force Air Mobility Command is soliciting quotes for magnetometers and related security equipment to support the 2026 Joint Base Charleston Air Show scheduled for April 30 through May 3, 2026. The contractor shall provide 42 walkthrough metal detectors, 45 handheld security wands, 42 floor mats with footprint layouts, and 100 divesting bowls, along with all associated labor, installation, calibration, training, and removal services. Key contract requirements include delivery and setup completion by 1200 hours on April 30, 2026, equipment inspection and repair or replacement within 24 hours of any defects, compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards, and obtaining base identification and vehicle passes for all personnel. The walkthrough metal detectors must meet stringent technical specifications including multi-zone detection capabilities, sensitivity levels exceeding 200 with adjustable settings, discrimination capabilities to distinguish threatening objects from harmless items, and compliance with TSA and ECAC security standards, while handheld security wands must feature automatic tuning, battery operation, high sensitivity to ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and multi-sensory alert mechanisms including audible tones, visual indicators, and vibration alerts. Award will be made to the responsible vendor whose quote represents the lowest price for items meeting the salient characteristics, with all quotations due by March 9, 2026, at 2:00 PM local time.

This is a 100 percent small business set-aside with a NAICS code of 561621 (Security Systems Services except Locksmiths) and a size standard of $25,000,000, with no incumbent contractor identified in the solicitation documents. The equipment must be distributed across four entry control points at Joint Base Charleston: Blue Lot ECP and Red Lot ECP each receiving 20 walkthrough detectors, 20 handheld wands, 20 floor mats, and 50 divesting bowls; Housing ECP receiving 2 walkthrough detectors, 2 handheld wands, 2 floor mats, and 6 divesting bowls; and DV/Boeing Lot ECP receiving 3 handheld wands and 10 divesting bowls. An Amendment issued on March 3, 2026, reduced quantities from the original solicitation dated February 26, 2026, and incorporated Performance Work Statement Revision 1 with updated equipment distribution requirements across the four locations. The Government will provide tents for weather protection, alternating current power, and metal-free flat surfaces, with all equipment to be removed by 1800 hours on May 3, 2026, and the contractor assuming liability for any damage to Government property caused by its employees during the operation.
