Questions from Vendors:
1. If delivery is done with a flat bed truck, do we unload the slabs, or does the vendor need to unload them.
Answer: We can, would prefer the vendor to unload
Updated: 13 March 2018 As there would be a large difference in pricing if the government/unit does the unloading and stacking of the slabs, or if this is done by the contractor, we would like to confrim if the government will definitely have the means to do the unloading and stack and will be prepared to do so?
ANSWER: Bid is for an annual production of 480 slabs as noted in description and updated via various vendor feedback questions.
We would like the vendor to produce, deliver, and unload the items at Camp Dawson; Volkstone site to ensure safety and no issues with delivery of product.
2. Can the slabs be stronger than 3000 psi, or do they have to be 3000 psi?
Answer: It can be higher, but no more than 4,000 psi
3. Do you have a schedule of when you would want deliveries for this year? Id school dates
Answer: It can be one shipment/ prefer two....initial (half) and balance in 6 months or upon notification Updated: 13 March 2018 The shipment will be based on two shipments / semiannually (6 months apart or otherwise discussed and agreed with vendor) POP is based on the award of the contract; We were asking for option years;
but it is based on the availability of funding and government needs for that year.
4. Do you want pricing per slab with delivery feel or a set amount per delivery?
Answer: We want all costs rolled into one, with delivery expenses included.
5. Would there be bi‐weekly, quarterly, or just random shipments?
Answer: It can be one shipment/ prefer two....initial (half) and balance in 6 months or upon notification Updated: 13 March 2018 The shipment will be based on two shipments / semiannually (6 months apart or otherwise discussed and agreed with vendor) POP is based on the award of the contract; We were asking for option years;
but it is based on the availability of funding and government needs for that year.
6. The vendor is stating that the slab would be about a 1/2 less, does this matter, or does it have to be exactly 6 inches thick?
Answer: 1/2" is less is ok
7. Does the hook have to be a steel cable or can it be made out of rebar?
Answer: Steel cable is required
8. Is there a specification for the spacing between the rebar members fro the concrete slabs?
Answer: Yes, a square of rebar 6” from the border is all that is required
9. The specification calls for 6” from the outer edges, but I am not sure if the 6” spacing applies to internal member spacing as well, is there a minimum size steel cable handle desired?
Answer: 3/8” cable is suitable (as long as the cable is rated stronger than the concrete pad weight)
The cable loop must be large enough for a fork of a fork truck to lift and use /move the block. Loop should anchor to concrete approximately 8” spacing in the center on a dege, 6” height of loop should be enough to allow the thickness of the fork to pass through the cable loop and pick up the slab.
10. The 8” wide and 6” high lifter to allow fork access is what is wanted to know. I have checked with all of the Precast suppliers and I cannot find a lifter that will meet this. Please know when I say I cannot find a lifter, that means a lifter that has certification. A custom lifter can be made up using cable but it more than likely will not have any certifications with it. If you have a specified lifter that you are wanting please let us know what it is.
Answer: This style is suitable:
TENSION CAPACITY
(4:1 SWL)
1,600 lbs Wire Diameter 1/4” Width 3‐15/16” Height 8‐1/4”
Updated: 13 March 2018
11. Can you please clarify what is the PoP? And if pricing is desired separately for any option years?
Answer: The shipment will be based on two shipments / semiannually (6 months apart or otherwise discussed and agreed with vendor) POP is based on the award of the contract; We were asking for option years; but it is based on the availability of funding and government needs for that year.
