QUESTIONS – CSLA FIBER OPTICS

Q. The customer is requesting two different color cables (gray for data and Blue for voice) Yes or No?

a. Yes

Q. Will the jacks be color coded as well (gray and blue)?

Q. Do we need to quote cabinet or Relay Rack for Room 337?

a. Relay rack for hallway to room 337 as needed, If this your question.

Q. What about grounding and bonding?

a. We will ground to the green bar at the top of the rack, or find a place in the floor for grounding under the rack.

Q: During the walk it was mention that a 2 pair fiber cable be installed. Is this to mean 4 strands per drop? This is a total of 120 SC connectors (60 in the Server Room), correct? Where does the 48 strands come into play? Refer back to Q&A question 1.

a. That correct if you are using the 120 SC connectors, disregard the 48 Strands. Need the 30 drops.

Q: If new fiber is being installed back to the server room; Can we install OM3 (current standard) to the desk and provide the patch cables to match? Refer back to Q&A question 3.

a. No OM3 IS 50/125 Fiber, we want to keep it all to the existing standard with the 62/5/125 as customer requested.

Q: What will the Manufacturer of the Modular Furniture be?

a. We will not use the Modular Furniture, the Customer requested that all drop will be just above the Modular Furniture on the Walls.

b. Into the walls with sheetrock and use Raceway/Panduit on the cement walls.(facing windows outer walls)

Q: Assuming fiber and copper can route in the same patch, will separate face plates be required for the copper and fiber?

a. Different face plate.

Q: Per the site walk, CAT5 is Voice and CAT6 will be Data. Please verify. Q&A question 2 refers to Riser Rated. Is the cable Plenum or Riser rated?

a. Plenum rated cable

Q: Grounding – Observed during the site walk that no grounding is present. Should this be included in the Statement of Work?

a. Yes, we will ground on the green bar above the rack, or under the rack in the floor.

Q: During the site walk a fiber consolidation point was shown. Is this to be the termination point for the fiber optic?

a. Yes, the fiber will be termination into the rack, and hall way box and into room 337.

Q. Solicitation page 4, SOW: 30 strand FOC is not a standard strand count, please clarify requirements.

a. Disregards SOW 30 strand FOC, because of the 30 drops needed for the fiber run.

Q. Solicitation page 7, 3.1: Section 3.1 calls for MM FOC to be Riser rated, armored, with metallic strength member; while 4.2.1 calls for Plenum rated FOC with dielectric strength members. Please clarify requirements.

a. Please use plenum rated cable accordance to I3A Standard IAW NFPA 70.

Q. Solicitation page 7, 3.1: What MM FOC type is required? OM1, OM2, etc.

a. As per meeting please use OM1, 62.5/125 Multimode.

Q. Please confirm that this requirement is for OM1 (62.5/125um) fiber, as per the end user and NEC's discussion at the site visit.

Q. Are fiber, voice and NIPR patch & equipment cables required?

a. Yes, Cable, Patch Panel, etc.

Q. Will escorts be provided for the duration of the work effort?

a. Yes, the Customer will take care of that.

Q. Will this work be performed during standard business hours or after hours/nights?

a. Standard business hours, between 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 5:00 PM
