Could metal wall panel specifications be modified for interest of other manufacturers?

See attached clarification item concerning the panel specification.

JTC – 8/21/08

E-1-302 Area B

Voice / Data locations at SW corner are outside of 90 meter radius if installed in cable tray as shown. Could additional cable tray be installed to accommodate?

A cable tray will be installed from the main telecommunications room south above the Assembly Room storage rooms to the administrative area. The additional cable tray will be in an addendum.

01 Note 9, E-1-302 Note 10, E-1-303 Note 10, and E-2-301

Keynotes on the prints mentioned above call out different copper feed cables from Reserve Center to FMS. They state the following: E-1-301 states a 50 pair, E-1-302 states 50 pair, E-1-303 states 200 pair, and E-2-301 states 100 pair. The Spec Pg. 16710-2 I. states 50 pair. Please advise on the proper amount of copper pairs from the Reserve Center to the Field Maintenance Shop.

There will be a 50 pair copper cable from the AFRC to the FMS. There will also be two 12 strand optic fiber cables from the AFRC to the FMS.

One optic fiber cable will be dedicated for military use. The second optic fiber cable will be used for fire alarm networking and other uses.

GRW Project No 3280-20 page 2 of 25

E-1-304, E-2-302

Communication Rack layout shows Multi-Mode Fiber Optic Cable installed in the Equipment Rack. Will this cable be install and where does it originate and terminate?

The only optic fiber cable will be from the AFRC to the FMS (two 12 strand cables).

E-1-304, E-2-302

Communication Room’s layout show voice tie cables from patch panel mounted in rack to 110 wiring block mounted on wall. Will this require (1) cable per voice/data outlet or a percentage of the voice/data outlets? Please advise on the proper amount of cables that will need to be installed to facilitate the voice cross cuts.

Each telecommunications outlet will have three RJ-45 jacks mounted in a modular face plate. There will be one CAT 6 UTP cable to each jack (three cables per outlet). All jacks will be orange. The jacks can be used for voice or data. The military may use VoIP. The incoming copper cables will be terminated on 110 blocks. The electrical contractor shall terminate and test all cables (optic fiber and copper). The electrical contractor shall furnish and install all passive equipment and the military will furnish and install all active equipment.

E-2-302 and Specification Pg. 16710-6 N

Pg. 16710-6 N states the Modular Terminal Racks will be 19”w x 30” d freestanding rack. Print E-2-302 General Note 14 states a 19” communications rack. Please clarify the difference between the two items. Will the telecommunications equipment be installed in a closed cabinet or an open equipment rack?

Discrepancies exist between hardware set assignments that appear on the door schedule and those that appear in hardware specification 08710. Which are to take precedence?

Please clarify. If we are to refer to set assignments that appear in specification 08710; swinging door hardware has been indicated for over-head doors (openings 19, 50, 51, and 54). No hardware has been indicated for openings 82, 83, and

84. Also, hardware is indicated for openings that occur in the "Unheated Storage Building". This building does not appear on plans. If we are to refer to set assignments that appear on the door schedule; then some openings have not been assigned to hardware sets (openings 23, 57, 59, and 67).

Door Hardware section 08710 and Door Schedules will be revised and resubmitted as part of an amendment.

“Unheated Storage Building” is located on drawings:

C sheets, S-3-101, A-3-101, and E-3-101.

A door schedule will be added to the Unheated Storage Building as an amendment.

Discrepancy

16050-7 1.19A of the Specifications calls for (1) 5” Schedule 80 PVC Conduit for Ohio Edison’s Primary Cable.

Sheet E-0-101 Detail Drawing #4 illustrates (1) 5” Schedule 40 PVC Conduit for Ohio Edison’s Primary Cable.

Sheet E-1-201 illustrates (2) 5” Schedule 80 PVC Conduits all the way back to the riser pole at Peacock Road.

Which is Correct?

The primary (medium voltage) cable will be directly buried. The primary cable will be furnished and installed by the Ohio Edison/First Energy (OE/FE). The electrical contactor shall coordinate with OE/FE on the primary cable installation and assist as necessary. The electrical contractor shall open the trench, install a Schedule 80 PVC conduit sleeve under all paved areas, and close the trench. The Schedule 80 PVC conduit only occurs under pavement. Only one conduit is required.

OE/FE requires Schedule 80 PVC for the sleeve. Limits of the sleeve are clearly marked on Sheet E-0-101 with Site Keynote #9. The PVC sleeve does not extend to the riser pole. The Primary Trench Detail-Under Pavement clearly shows only one PVC sleeve. The detail will be revised to show Schedule 80 PVC instead of Schedule 40 PVC. All backfill material under pavement shall be clean, well compacted, crushed stone.

The primary cable on Sheet E-1-201 will be extended under the generator pad to the padmounted transformer (a line was omitted from the drawing). THE CONTRACTOR IS DIRECTED TO CONTACT OHIO

EDISON/FIRST ENERGY TO COORDINATE THE ELECTRICAL

SERVICE. The electrical contractor is required to meet all OE/FE requirements and include them in the base bid.

16500-6 B. 1. States: “Use of flexible conduit for connection to fixtures is prohibited, except where concealed above a suspended ceiling”

Is this the actual intent, or can a short piece of flex (3’ or less) be installed between the fixture and a junction box directly adjacent to each fixture? Otherwise this type of installation becomes very labor intensive and extremely difficult to change locations or replace damaged fixtures in the future.

No flexible conduit is to be used in exposed areas. Typically, surface mounted luminaires are mounted to a junction box. Pendant mounted luminaires are to be mounted at a uniform height above finished floor (requiring pendants of varying lengths). If the height is not specified, consult with the engineer. The intent is to have a clean neat appearance resulting from professional workmanship providing a durable installation.

Unistrut used for mounting is to be cut squarely and filed for a finished appearance.

On the door schedule on Sheet A-1-601, the door material for door type "P" is listed as "insulated steel" and "galvanized steel". My assumption is to provide galvanized insulated slats for door numbers 49 and 50 and galvanized non-insulated slats for door numbers 51 and 54.

Provide galvanized steel insulated slats for doors (49 and 50) and galvanized steel non-insulated slats for doors (51 and 54).

The jamb tracks (FRAME MATERIAL) are also galvanized steel.

Mark Ericson – Mid America Door Co.

8/27/08

If the thought process in question No. 1 is correct, do the coiling doors (door numbers 11, 35, 36, and 44) listed in the door schedule on Sheet A-2-501, which are marked "galvanized steel" non-insulated or insulated?

Doors (11, 35, 36, and 44) are insulated galvanized steel.

Mark Ericson – Mid America Door Co.

8/27/08

In Specification Section 08331, Item 2.08.D, the required material is specified as "aluminum", which would require the finish specified in Item 2.08.L.1. However, on the door schedules on Sheets A-1-601 and A-2-501, the coiling door types have "galvanized steel" listed as the door material.

Which is correct?

See attached specification section 08331 for revisions.

Mark Ericson – Mid America Door Co.

8/27/08

In the door schedule on Sheet A-1-601, the coiling doors are listed as having a "pre-finished" finish. If these doors are made with galvanized steel, does this finish need to be baked-on enamel paint or powder-coated?

Door Schedule (DOOR FINISH) shall be revised to “PAINT” for all overhead coiling doors

Mark Ericson – Mid America Door Co.

8/27/08

In specification Section 08331, Item 2.09 refers to a fire-rated door assembly. Is it correct to assume that this applies to the counter shutter, which is door number 85 on Sheet A-1-601?

Door number 85 is fire-rated. See attached Revised Door Schedule.

The Energy Management System (EMS) specification Section 15950, Page 69, titled Natural gas Radiant Heaters are to be controlled via the manufacturers provided controls and the drawing schedule M2 602 indicates that a standard thermostat is being provided. The paragraph “Run Conditions- On/Off states that the thermostat, during the

EMS interfaces should be provided to interface the radiant heaters with the EMS system.

Night setback is allowable on the garages (suggest down to 55° F).

However, the presence of water lines in the bays precludes the temperature from dropping below freezing.

GRW Project No 3280-20 page 9 of 25 occupied mode”, maintains the space temperature at 65 degrees. During the Unoccupied Mode, night setback is non applicable. But under the “Emergency Shutdown” operation, when the emergency shutdown button is initiated the burner fans are to stop and the gas valve is closed.

The EMS system is not connected to the stand-a-lone thermostats that control the radiant heater.

Therefore the emergency shutdown sequence cannot be performed without an EMS interface to the radiant heaters. There is also additional energy savings by reducing the space temperature in the garage bay area during unoccupied times. The other mechanical systems in this area are connected to the EMS system designed to reduce the night time temperatures.

Should the radiant heater be interfaced into the EMS system along with the other equipment?

The mechanical specifications, Section 1588, titled Carbon Monoxide Exhaust System, Paragraph 2.05-A, Carbon Monoxide Detectors.

The vehicle exhaust manufacturer provides the sensor/detectors. The sensor/detectors are standa-lone and are not interfaced into the EMS system.

Typically the concentration levels are monitored through the EMS system, alarms and setpoint are adjustable to comply with any new regulation that would require changing the environmental concentration (PPM) levels Sequence would be generated to control exhaust fan on a 24 hour basis to protect the work environment. Warning light and strobe lights can easily be added to give ample time to take some sort of measure to protect against bodily injury.

We are requesting the Quatrosense Environments sensor be added to the manufacturers list and

There is no requirement for the vehicle exhaust system manufacturer to provide the carbon monoxide sensor/detectors. Text will be added in the controls specification to reference Section 15887 for the CO sensor description, but that the system is required as part of the building controls. The preferred sensor manufacturer will be added to the specification.

GRW Project No 3280-20 page 10 of 25 be interfaced to the EMS system. In order to maintain consistency with other Ohio Nation Guard projects, have the carbon monoxide sensor provided by the BMS contractor. We also notice that the garage bay is not provided with Nitrogen Dioxide detector

I apologize for asking this question so late but I don't really have a choice. I cannot find anywhere in the specs what type and wall thickness of pipe you want on the specialty piping (all

See amendment to Specification Section 15410 Plumbing Piping.

Mechanical Systems of Dayton the piping coming off of the lube system). Also I wanted to let you know that the specs allow pvc sdr 21 and 26 on above ground domestic water and that is something I have to believe is a typo. That type of pipe is generally used in an underground application for yard irrigation. It also allows for CPVC which is fine but it doesn't call for a wall thickness and we could use schedule 40 but again typically it is schedule 80.
