About this file

This document is a Crane Log Book template designed for recording shift and monthly inspection data for overhead cranes. The form captures essential crane identification information including model, capacity, serial number, location, acquisition date, and manufacturer, along with starting hours and year-to-date usage hours for each inspection period.

The inspection checklist encompasses 21 specific items covering critical safety and operational components. These include verification of hydraulic and pneumatic system integrity; load hook condition assessment for cracks, damage, saddle wear (maximum 10%), twist (maximum 10%), and throat opening (maximum 15%); wire rope examination for kinking, crushing, unstranding, birricaging, corrosion, broken wires and strands, and diameter reduction; verification of proper spooling and reeving; sheave and hook block wear assessment; structural integrity of bridge, trolley, rails, and fasteners; support concrete condition; endstops, guards, and end sweeps functionality; obstruction checks; fire extinguisher availability; electrical controls and conductors operation; bridge and trolley drive conditions; no-load and loaded test runs with observations of brake function and wire rope performance; and upper shut-off limit switch verification. Each inspection item is marked with an "X" for no issues or "O" for items of concern. The form includes fields for inspector/operator name and signature, provides space for comments, and designates a status column. The document also includes a detailed diagram of a Severe Duty Class "E" service crane showing all major components including the upper block, trolley, hoist motor, brake systems, gearing, electrical controls, and structural elements.
