The following have been added by full text:
AMENDMENT 0002
RFI 0002
1. How many days before does the contractor need to request a cap off for electricity?
See revised Drawing, Amendment 0002 – Attachment 1, ES101 Electrical Site Plan and Amendment 0002
– Attachment 2, revised specification Section 01 11 00 Summary of Work
2. "Drawing A-405 shows new doors & frames for vestibule entrance, there is no spec for these. Also, being a government base, should the exterior be 'Blast Resistance’"? The glass spec 08 81 00 page 10, 2.5 f Type 2 (GL-2) is not a true 'Blast Resistance’glass make-up. Also I believe the window frames should be 'Blast Resistance' as well. Please advise.
See Amendment 0002 –Attachment 3, Specification Section 08 41 13 Aluminum - Framed Entrances and Storefronts and revised Submittal Registry.
New Windows, Glazing and Door Replacement: New windows will meet provisions listed in Standard 10.
New doors will meet provisions listed in Standard 12. (See UFC 4-010-01.)
3. Please advise if temporary electric service will be allowed to tap into existing building electrical service and metering. If not, please advise source of temporary electric service.
Temporary electric service is allowed. See response to number 1. The contractor is responsible for providing power to the buildings affected by its work. The contractor is responsible for submiting a request to/gaining approval from the DPW for approval if the use of a generator is requried, etc. The contractor shall provide to DPW, minimally, the meaning/source of the proposal before the taping as well as how long the “temporary” connection is going to last, including date/time.
4. Drawing EP-702 calls for the 100-amp feeder to the photovoltaic panel (PV1) to be 2” conduit with 4#1+#8G; however, Drawing ES101 shows this feed to be 2-4” conduits. Which is the correct size? If 2- 4” conduits is the correct size, should this conduit be reduced on the outside of the building (since 4” conduit will not fit in a 100-amp disconnect switch)?
Drawings EP-702 & EP-703 have been revised (See Amendment 0002 – Attachement 1). (2) 4” conduits (1 active, 1 spare) shall be terminated in a pullbox above grade. (1) 2” with 4#1+#8G conduit shall leave the pullbox and feed the 100A disconnect switch, from which (1) 2” with 4#1+#8G conduit shall leave the disconnect switch and rise along the building exterior to the PV system on the roof.
5. Note 4 on EP702 requires that we do amp readings with a data logger over a 30-day period for each existing panel and switchboard (total 15). Are these recordings to be done simultaneously or one at a time?
If simultaneously, with an equipment cost of over $5000 per setup, cost would be prohibitive. If one at a time, the time period would exceed one year and delay the project substantially. Please advise on process here and advise if standard code calculation of existing loads may be substituted for these readings.
Per note 4 on EP702 “Provide amp probe readings for each existing panelboard or switchboard by this scope of work.” Only SWB1 and PP1 are required to be metered as they are affected by this scope of work.
Metering can be conducted simultaneously.
6. Detail A11 on Drawing EL701 indicates a “UL924 fire alarm relay (as indicated on plans)” for override of lighting control; however, a UL924 relay is not listed for fire alarm use and the fire alarm drawings make no reference to this override.
Connection and programming information has been added to sheets FA601 and FA602 ( See Amendment 0002 – Attachment 4) in coordination with electrical detail. Provide output with dry contact for connection to relay (provided by electrical).
7. Is this relay a UL924 relay for bypassing light switching the event of a normal power loss or is this a fire alarm relay tied to the fire alarm system although not shown on fire alarm drawings?
Connection to relay is required in NFPA 101 7.8 for egress where lighting is controlled by motion sensors.
8. Amendment #1 does not completely address the questions posed on the photovoltaic system. In order to provide 15-KW of photovoltaic generation in the roof space allotted, we would need panels rated at least 500-watts. The only 500-watt panels that appear to be commercially available, are not Buy American Compliant. The largest BAA compliant model we can find is rated 410-watts.
410-watts is acceptable. The minimum panel size is 315W as stated in specification 26 31 00 section 2.2.3.
9. We see no specific details for the PV system, how many PV Support Details (K3/A-571) should be carried to provide an accurate roofing cost?
See Amendment 0001, RFI Responses No. 7 & 8
10. Please provide a spec on the aluminumEX120 and 121 entrance doors.
See Amendment 0002, RFI Response No.2.
11. Can you please confirm these labels are in scope? (Please see below) if yes so can you provide sizes and quantity?
Confirmed. See Amendement 0001, RFI Response No. 7 & 8
12. On S-515 the composite metal deck slab schedule refers you back to the framing plans for Stud counts but there is no stud count on the framing plans. Please advise.
The studs are applicable to one beam only, at the west penthouse wall support beam at main roof level, Grid N2.6. Please refer to sheet S-104 Roof/Penthouse Framing Plan, and Section J11/S-511.
