ES 00346-8 Replace PV and Trafo MV switchgears in substation bldg 5882, Depot
ES 00177-8 Upgrade POD Bldg 5180, Depot
Basic Project and Options. The project consists of one basic project only. No optional work is included.
Phase 1 (Design) Description:
I. Scope of the work.
Introduction
Depot Electrical MV system is currently a closed 15kV loop with logic selectivity managed by a
SCADA system connected to the national grid by two (alternative) points of delivery.
Medium Voltage panels inside substation bldg 5882 have been partially renovated in 2015 with the exception of the MV panel connecting the 1.4MWpeak Photovoltaic System and the MV panel feeding the 15/0.4kV transformer inside the substation.
The renovated panels are:
- 1 switchgear type 8DJH by Siemens with disconnector for the incoming line from Point of delivery bldg 5078
- 1 switchgear type 8DJH by Siemens for the voltage transformers
- 1 switchgear type 8DJH by Siemens with circuit breaker and relay model S7J80 by Siemens for the protection of the MV cable loop
- 1 switchgear type 8DJH by Siemens with circuit breaker and relay model S7J80 by Siemens for the protection of the MV cable loop
- 1 switchgear type 8DJH by Siemens with disconnector feeding the MV panel connecting the
PV system and the MV panel feeding the 15/0.4kV transformer (ABB brand complete with
Thytronic relays).
The Siemens relays are connected to a communication switch located in a cabinet inside the substation and are part of a SCADA system that allows the remote monitoring and control of the
MV system of the Depot area; the existing supervisory control and data acquisition is SIMATIC
WinCC by Siemens: the system is composed by 2 redundant PLC and a server located in bldg
5012, plus a workstation located in bldg 5155 and a workstation located in bldg 5140.
The existing MV switchgear connecting the PV system is complete with 2 relays, 1 relay
Thytronic PRO-N NA60 for the line protection and 1 relay Thytronic PRON-N NV10P acting as
“Dispositivo di Interfaccia” (DDI).
The existing MV switchgear feeding the 15/0.4kV transformer is complete with 1 relay Thytronic.
Over the ABB MV switchgear there is a cabinet with MV voltage transformers (TV), providing the voltage measure to the Power Factor Unit located between the transformer and the LV panel.
The existing MV cables are routed under the concrete floor in a big accessible atrium.
The existing “Dispositivo di Interfaccia” (DDI) in bldg 5882 is connected to the “Dispositivo
Generale” (DG) of the Depot South Point of Delivery (POD) bldg 5078, acting also as
“Dispositivo di Rincalzo” (DDR).
Another POD, bldg 5180, is existing in the North Depot area; this POD is actually not connected to the DDI of the photovoltaic system and is not authorized to be used to feed the Depot without disconnecting the PV system.
An existing “regolamento di esercizio” is currently available, corresponding to the situation above explained.
Works to be done
The general scope of the project is to:
- replace the existing MV panels feeding the existing Photovoltaic system and the 15/0.4kV transformer, installing new panels and relays to be connected to the existing SCADA system.
- connect the North POD bldg 5180 to the PV system DDI in order to be allowed to feed the
MV loop from this POD keeping the PV system connected.
