1. The existing borehole sleeves are shown protruding from the cnal wall near the bottom of the canal. Since there are numerous cables that must be pulled through these sleeves the sleeve geometry at this critical location can have a significant impact on the level of effort for cable pulling. It would be more desirable to have the sleeves stop short of the face of the canal rather than protruding to help facilitate “training” the cables as they funnel into the sleeve. Please verify whether the sleeves could be installed in this manner.
Response: The borehole sleeves will be installed so that they do not protrude from the canal wall near the bottom of the canal.
2. It appears a bathymetric survey was utilized for the Site Location Plan on the Cover Sheet G01. Would this data be available for the contractor’s use?
Response: All bathymetric survey data that USACE has will be made available for the selected contractor’s use.
3. Clause 52.219.22 mentions that bidders with small disadvantaged business status obtain a benefit on this solicitation. Please provide the percentage of such advantage or quantity as applicable.
Response: The Clause is hereby deleted and was inadvertently added by mistake.
4. The description of work on Form 1442 indicates the scope of work includes concrete duct bank while the drawings indicate this work as future. The scope also mentions manholes but there are no manholes on the drawings, only access vaults. Lastly, the description indicates additional connections and wiring at concrete duct bank and manholes but this work does not appear on the drawings. Please clarify.
Response: Bidders should prepare their prices based on the drawings and specifications presented in the solicitation.
5. Detail 1/C02 shows a slab as part of the work. However, this is shown as NIC on G03 & S03. Please verify.
Response: The slabs at the top of the borings for the cables from the parasitic on the west side of the canal are not included in this contract. The cables will have to be brought up through the borings and pigtailed.
6. Detail 1/C02 shows trenches that are not labeled. Are they part of this contract?
Response: These trenches are not included in this contract.

7. E01 shows electrode arrays and refers to Sections 1/E05 and 2/E05. Dimensions scaled from the plan from centerline of the boreholes to the nearest electrode do not match the sections. This will affect cable lengths.
Please verify which arrangement is correct.
Response: The string dimensions provided on the drawings should be used for measurements.
8. E03 indicates a scale of 2”=1’‐“0. It appears the scale is 3”=1’‐0”. Please verify.
Response: The string dimensions provided on the drawings should be used for measurements.
9. Detail 1/E04 does not show the access vault shown on C03 & 3/S02. In addition the detail shows cables arranged in a spatial orientation while detail 3/S02 shows a cover with a 12” hole for cables. Please clarify.
Response: The cover is temporary until a permanent fixture is installed. Tie, clearly label, and organize the wires to a temporary pipe type structure according to the sequence show on detail 1/E04. The pipe type structure is a suggested solution. The purpose of the pipe type structure is so that the wires are easily identifiable and organized for follow on work.
10. Details 1/S02 & 2/S05 show electrode arrangements on the concrete sleepers but do not show the cables or cable connection assemblies. This is a concern at E10 and E28 where electrodes are stacked. The outer electrodes on the bottom row could be set with the cables/connection rotated 90‐degrees so the cables/connections are on the side. This may require the slot in the sleeper to be slightly wider. However, the middle electrodes on the bottom row would need to be places upside down but here is no pathway for the cable. A possible solution could be a secondary slot in the sleeper to accommodate the cable on the bottom. Please advise.
Response: Sheet S05 does not exist. The assumption is the question refers to sheet E05. The sleepers are not slotted. The top row of cables is connected to the top surface of the upper electrodes and the bottom row of cables is connected to the bottom surface of the lower electrodes. The electrodes are not to be notched.
11. Detail 3/S02 – what is the subgrade at the access vault? Is the access vault to be “tied” into the bedrock?
Response: The concrete stops at the bottom of the slab on grade. Dowel the concrete to the bedrock.
12. Detail 5/S02 – The concrete raceway is shown NIC‐Future on E01 but is not labeled as such on this sheet.
Please clarify.
Response: The concrete raceway is not included in this contract.
