About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) related to a Request for Quote (RFQ) issued by the Virginia Army National Guard (VAARNG) for office furniture. The RFQ seeks to furnish 10 newly renovated office spaces in building 142 on Ft. Barfoot in Blackstone, Virginia. The furniture requirements include 7 L-shaped desks, 9 office chairs, 17 guest chairs, 2 small desks, 1 small meeting table, and 1 large conference table. The furniture should be constructed with a wood composite core and durable laminate in a light color such as maple. Delivery, assembly, and installation are required. The solicitation was issued as a small business set-aside under NAICS 337211, with Federal Prison Industries also afforded an opportunity to respond. An onsite visit for interested vendors was scheduled for August 1, 2024. Quotes must be valid through September 30, 2024, and the VAARNG intends to award on or before that date.

VAARNG Furniture Q&A

RFQ W912LQ-24-Q-A004

Q1. Are there any files for the floor layout? Hand drawing with measurements would work.

A1. The solicitation on SAM.gov contains a pdf attachment with an overview of the building and each room with approximate room dimensions.

Q2. Are there any specific descriptions of the furniture, like its dimensions? This way we can have a basis of the design if a CAD file is needed.

A2. The pre-solicitation and solicitation contain a general description of the types of furniture being requested. We are not specifying a brand, make, or model and therefore cannot specify an exact dimension for the furniture. Our request is that the furniture proposed in the quote will meet the requirements and adequately fit in the space of each room.

Q3. Is there a storage/staging area/room prior to installation of the furniture?

A3. Rooms 114 and 116B are large rooms and could be used as a staging area to offload furniture while the other rooms are being set up first.

Q4. Is this on the ground floor? If not, is there a service elevator to help carry parts of the furniture?

A4. Bldg. 142 is a ground floor only building.

Q5. Will the customer want chairs for the small meeting table and the conference room table? If so, How many?

A5. The chairs for the small meeting table and conference table are all accounted for in the total number of guest chairs. 17 total guest chairs.

Q6. Can the customer provide how many L shaped desks will be LEFT and RIGHT?

A6. The solicitation puts the responsibility on the contractor to determine the configuration of the furniture to fit the room.

Q7. Would it be possible for me to be provided with the building plan either in CAD or PDF form (as seen below) without the blue box ID’s so I can see the architectural dimensions underneath.

A7. This is the only copy of the building plan we could get from facilities. A revised version with less hidden space will be released however rooms 116A and 116B do not show the actual floor plan after a new wall was added. Rooms 128A, 128B, and 128C do not have the “drop in partitions” as indicated and the rooms are approximately 9’x9’.

Q8. What is the preferred upholstery color for the guest chairs.

A8. The guest chair upholstery may range from black to dark grey in color.

*Correction to room 116A dimensions: the dimensions are approximately 9’6” x 9’3”. The updated pdf will be issued when the solicitation amendment is released.
