Request For Information (RFI) receipts and answers as of 2nd day of August, year 2017.

RFI #1

Question :
“The survey provided by Draper Aden does not match the existing conditions on the plans. Which of these do I use to compare with?”
Response :
See Sheet C3.0 for existing and new elevations.

RFI #2

Question :
“SPRINKLER - Please confirm if the building is to receive a fire protection sprinkler system. Sheet LS1.01 calls for Automatic Sprinkler System: 2013 NFPA 13 and UFC 3-600-01 – but the drawings do not show a new fire service main to the building.”
Response :
See LS 1.01 for instruction; automatic sprinkler system is not required for this building.

RFI #3

Question :
1) “On Sheet 10, it calls for approximately 465' of 6" C-900 waterline which is being connected to an existing 8" private main to the east of the site. Plans show approximately 84' to property line (S07*58'21"W) and stops. More information is needed for connection. Existing main is not shown, so we have no idea as to location, type of pipe (Ductile or C-900), or depth.

2) Does the 6" Fire Hydrant require a 6" gate valve? The plans do not show installation of a gate valve on the line.

3) Do they want a 2" valve in the line where it reduces from 6" to 2" so if they have any problems, they can isolate the 2" line?

Response :
1) Response Pending

2) Yes, include installation of 6” gate valve just prior to branch for hydrant.

3) Yes, Install combination of mechanical water meter and shut off on 2” waterline approx. 5 feet from building.

RFI #4

Question :
“Is it required for the Mass Notification portion to have separate Speaker strobes as the symbol legend shows on drawing E0.01? The UFC requires that there be one set of speakers shared by the fire alarm and the mass notification systems. The Mass Notification symbol should be for an Amber Strobe only not a speaker strobe.”
Response :
Bid as designed. Correction required on sheet LS1.01, building does require Mass Notification System.

RFI #6

Question :
“Can a copy of the geotechnical report be provided? This is a crucial piece of information to allow for the amount of cut and fill to be determined for the site.”
Response :
Document is attached.

RFI #7

RFI #8

Question :
Drawing S1.01 general note #3 states that the special inspector will be required under section 1704, 2012 UBC, for the inspections for the C- I-P concrete, earthwork and the PEMB system. Section 1704 of the UBC requires the owner/owner’s design professional “shall employ one or more approved agencies to perform inspections of work listed in section 1705”. No schedule of special inspections is included in the specifications. Specification section 31 2000 clearly states owner will provide special inspector for the required tests, there is no confirmation Owner is supplying the special inspector for the concrete and PEMB. Please confirm owner will be providing the special inspections for these divisions also.
Response :
Bid as designed.

RFI #9

Question :
Specification section 01 22 00 para 1.07 is stating, to provide unit pricing for 2 items (import, placement & compaction of fill soil and removal, export and disposal of unsuitable soils (cut)). For bidding purposes can you provide a quantity for each item requested? Also there is no unit pricing items shown on the bid form can you please clarify/provide?
Response :
Delete section 01 2200 paragraph 1.07

RFI #11

Question :
Specification section 01 50 00 para graph 1.09 states “provide project identification sign of design, construction and location approved by Owner”. Please provide design, construction type and artwork required.
Response :
Bid as specified

RFI #14

Question :
Is the use of MC cable permitted on this project?
Response :
Per specification 26 0533 Part 3, Paragraph 3.01 ; use conduit as directed.

RFI #15

Question :
Drawing C4.0 states “Extend communication lines to proposed building (by others)”, and drawing E0.02 shows the communication conduit as part of the electrical work. Please confirm who will be responsible for running the conduit from the existing building to the new proposed building. Will the same contractor be responsible for the cabling to include connection inside the new building? If this work is by others, please confirm general contractor will only be responsible to 5’ outside the building.
Response :
Replace note on C4.0 to state “Extend communication duct to proposed building.” Refer to Sheet E0.02

This work is to be included in bid.

RFI #16

Question :
In rooms 111 and 112 is there a minimum required clearance from the finished floor to the bottom of the mainframe rafters?
Response :
Per sheet A5.01 “Roof Bearing” height is 14’- 0”

Attachments:

RFI #17 Concrete Sealing

1. For sealed concrete areas, provide a lithium-silicate densifier that includes a siliconate stain repellant, similar to V-Seal Industrial-Seal 117A (approximate cost $39.95/gallon), and apply soon after concrete is set in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.

RFI #12 Grounding

1. Don’t see your referenced sections or paragraphs.

2. See Section 26 0526 for project grounding requirements.

3. Delete references in Section 32 3113 to Section 26 4113 Lightning Protection for Structures.

RFI #13 Metal Building Exterior Skin

1. See Paragraph 2.04 A and B for options on base metal for wall and roof panels.

2. Provide min. 1 mil thickness 70% PVDF finish on BOTH wall and roof panels.

3. Roof Panels must be warrantable with a 20 year weathertightness warranty, although the bid price should not include the 20 year warranty (and it’s cost).

Paragraph 1.07 requires a 5 year manufacturer warranty for all exterior building skin components for both weathertightness and for finish as indicated image1.emf
