18. Answer: Yes, on the under sink cabinet in standard rooms and the under sink apron in the accessible rooms
19. On A6.3, Storage room 304 has the hash mark for ACT but it says "Open". Please clarify which one to use.
19. Answer: Install the suspended acoustic tile & grid system at 8’-0”. The open is for the roof hatch
20. Questions pertaining to the roof on the walkway between the buildings and the stairs on the West end (see attached drawing)
a. AD5.1 note 17 says to demo the standing seam metal roof and trim in these areas. A2.1 points this same roof out as "to remain" and A5.1 points at the center area roof as "to remain". Please clarify which is correct.
b. If this roof is to be replace in base bid, are we removing and replacing the sheathing and the underlayment?
c. AD5.1 ABI#1 does not say to remove existing metal trusses in these areas but on ABI#1 on S1/4, these areas are shown as having new trusses. If we remove the trusses, then the metal panel ceiling would have to be removed and A6.3ABI#1 labels it as existing. Please clarify.
d. In ABI#1, are we removing and replacing the sheathing and underlayment?
e. Some detail on 2/A4.2 call for 1/2" CDX plywood sheathing and 4/A4.2 calls for 3/4" Fire Rated plywood sheathing. Please clarify which one to use.
20. Answer:
a. Roof to Remain

23. What type of material is to be used for the 5/8" sheathing on 3/A5.1AB1#1?
23. Answer: Use exterior gypsum board sheathing
24. There is a note at the bottom right of A7.2 that reads At Interior base edges: Schluter-dilex-eke profile, Finish as approved. My confusions lies in that the base for the floor product is coved. This schluter product is normally used when there is no base and we cut tile for base. Basically these two have the same function?
24. Answer: The Schluter “EKE” base trim is used in the shower stall only and the standard tile cove base outside the shower stall.
25. PB on A1.0, A0.2 and A0.3 implies an automatic door but I could not find one on the door schedule.

28. Answer: Yes. Contractor shall patch all holes left by demolition of any type with wall section to match wall schedule
29. No note to demo existing communications but it looks like we are providing new. Please clarify.
29. Answer: all existing communications items shall be demolished back to the service entrance
30. C1.1 shows 4" and 6" HDPE lines to connect the downspouts, but there are no downspouts in the base bid.
Should this work only be included in ABI#1?
30. Answer: The underground storm sewer on C1.1 shall be included as part of ABI #1. Note that there is an additional downspout location on the south stairwell of Dorm 406B that is not shown on C1.1. This downspout shall be taken underground and routed plan south to the new 4” HDPE storm.
31. Presumably all questions won't get answered until Friday afternoon. Considering this is a holiday weekend, can the bid date be moved to Thursday 9/8?
31. Answer: Bid Opening has been moved to Thursday, 09/08/2016 at 1 PM Central
32. Is it possible to get as-builts on Building 406?

The Government shall not be responsible for discrepancies between these drawings and actual existing building conditions. Contractor shall be responsible for field verification.
33. Please provide a detail section of the soffits on the exterior stairwells.
33. Answer: See the reference drawings
34. Please provide a detail section of the center stairwell/walkway where the two roofs overlap each other.
34. Answer: See the reference drawings
35. In Rm 135, the open air mechanical room there is a set of pipes along the wall where we would be cutting for the new opening. What is currently in this pipe and where would we need to move it to? See attached photo.
35. Answer: This communication piping will be intercepted and re-routed to accommodate the new door opening. See Note F on IT2.1 and Detail A1 on IT4.1
36. In Section 00010, Item 3 is for Communications. Are you asking for the price for communications separate from the base bid?
36. Answer: YES. However this will be evaluated along with base bid. Only ABI for roof will be additive.
37. In Section 00010, item 4 Contractor Manpower Reporting. Are we suppose to fill anything in here? If so, please clarify what you are looking for?
37. Answer: Instructions in line item 0004 specifically state that you will report manpower through the ECMRA. If you charge for this service, then include on your bid. Once again, this is not an ABI and will part of base bid evaluation.
38. In Section 00010, 12, (d) mentions ORCA website. I believe this website is no longer used. Is this the information in SAM?
38. Answer: SAM.gov is the site.
39. I don't see the Bid Bond Standard Form 24. Please supply the form or direct me to it.
39. Answer: http://www.gsa.gov/portal/forms/download/115982
40. Question 26 did not get fully answered. Where is detail 9/A5.2 called for on the drawings? I can't figure out where this detail occurs on the building.
40. Answer: Detail 1/A4.1 ABI#1 includes a reference to the Roof Detail 3/A5.1 ABI#1 which is incorrect.
This detail reference shall be changed to detail 9/A5.2
41. Note 5 on sheet S1.4 tells us that existing walkway roof framing is to be removed and replaced. New framing is to be attached to the existing structure in a similar manner to existing or current attachment.
Response 20c clarifies that if ABI#1 is accepted we are to provide new roof trusses and soffets at existing exterior walkways and stairs
Responses 33 & 34 refers us to the "building reference drawings" for details of new work associated with the cladding the new roof trusses and soffets at exterior walkways and stairs.
These directives indicate that the existing construction is to be removed and replaced with new roof trusses and cladded using the same details from the original design.
However, the "building reference drawings" provided show steel roof purlins, not trusses in these locations.
Reference the following sheets from the "building reference drawings" S2.3, S4.2, A6.2.
It is not possible to remove steel roof purlins, replace them with light gauge trusses and attach them in a similar manner using the same cladding details.
Please clarify further.
41. Answer: this response overrides all previous bid question responses related to this question
Base Bid: the existing standing seam metal roof shall remain ABI #1: demolish the existing standing seam metal roof & insulation. Install new 1½” batt insulation, new HT underlayment and new standing seam metal roof. The existing purlins shall remain.
