About this file
This document contains Questions and Answers (Q&A) for Solicitation #W912KC-25-Q-A022 for Telehandler Forklift Rental, dated 10 June 2025. The Q&A focuses on clarifying a service weight requirement for telehandlers. Across three questions, potential vendors sought clarification about the 10,000 lbs service weight specification, noting that meeting this requirement would compromise lift height and capacity for typical 40-ft telehandlers.
The government's consistent response to all questions is that the service weight requirement has been removed. Vendors are now instructed to ensure their offered forklifts meet all other salient characteristics and terms and conditions of the solicitation. This effectively provides vendors more flexibility in equipment selection by eliminating the previous weight constraint, allowing them to propose telehandlers that meet performance specifications like lift capacity, maximum lift height, all-terrain capability, and safety features without being restricted by a specific service weight limit.

Solicitation # W912KC-25-Q-A022
Telehandler Forklift Rental
Q1: We were just wondering about your specs on the Service weight ot10,000 lbs.
for that size of lift, is this correct?
A1: The service weight requirement has been removed. Forklifts being o ered by sellers must meet all other salient characteristics and terms and conditions.
Q2: I am writing to request clarification regarding the weight specification listed in the solicitation for the telehandler. The current requirement states that the unit must have a service weight no greater than 10,000 lbs. After researching available models that meet all other listed performance specifications—particularly the required lift capacity and height—it appears that most units capable of achieving those capabilities exceed the 10,000 lb service weight threshold.
Would a telehandler that meets or exceeds all other specifications (e.g., lift capacity, maximum lift height, all-terrain capability, and safety features), but has a service weight over 10,000 lbs, still be acceptable for consideration?
A2: The service weight requirement has been removed. Forklifts being o ered by
Q3: To meet the 10,000 lbs service weight limit, we would need to compromise on lift height and possibly weight capacity. As a rule of thumb, 40-ft telehandlers typically weigh 3–4 times their rated lift capacity, meaning units with a 5,000–6,000 lb capacity and 42-ft lift height usually weigh 16,000–20,000 lbs. Would the Government accept a machine that exceeds the 10,000 lbs weight limit if it meets all other performance and safety requirements? Or should we prioritize keeping service weight under 10,000 lbs even if that means reducing lift height or capacity?
A3: The service weight requirement has been removed. Forklifts being o ered by
