57. Is there any existing Geotech borings for determination of subgrade, coral, etc and at what area ground water/tidal ocean water is at and if dewatering is needed?
ANSWER: No Geotech borings for the project area. Below is an excerpt from a nearby Geotech report.
“The approximate locations of Boring Nos. 401 and 402 are shown on the Site Plan-Egress Maintenance Facility (Plate 3.4). Based on the borings drilled, the subsurface conditions at the Egress Maintenance Facility site generally consist of stiff sandy silts and medium dense gravelly sand fills extending to depths of about 2 to 3 feet below the existing ground surface. The fills were underlain by a thin layer of alluvium overlying lagoonal deposits consisting of loose to medium dense gravel extending to a depth of about 19 feet below the existing ground surface.
Dense gravelly sands (weathered sandstone), hard coral formation, medium dense clayey gravel (weathered limestone), and loose silty sands (coralline detritus) were encountered below the lagoonal deposits and extended to a depth of about 58 feet below the existing ground surface.
The weathered sandstone, coral formation, weathered limestone, and coralline detritus were underlain by weathered volcanic tuff extending to the maximum depth explored of about 63 feet below the existing ground surface. The weathered volcanic tuff consist of stiff sandy silts. We encountered groundwater in the borings at depths of about 3 to 3.5 feet below the existing ground surface. The groundwater levels encountered in the borings corresponded to elevations of about +0.5 and +1 foot MSL.
It should be noted that the groundwater levels encountered in the borings drilled at each site are subject to change due to tidal fluctuations, rainfall, time of year, seasonal precipitation, surface water runoff, and other factors.”
