SECTION: 33 16 16 SUBPART: 3.02
A. Tanks shall be field tested for leakage immediately prior to installation.
B. Tests shall be witnessed by the Contracting Officer.
C. Testing Procedure:
1. Tighten and soap all tank fittings and all parts of the tank which, in the opinion of the Contracting Officer, appear to have been damaged during transportation and handling.
2. Pressurize the tank with air to 5 psig and visually inspect for leaks.
a. Retighten all leaking fittings until such leakage is stopped.
b. All damaged areas on the tank which are found to be leaking shall be brought to the attention of the manufacturer’s installation representative. The manufacturer’s representative shall submit the proposed repair method to the Contracting Officer for review and acceptance.
c. Test shall not be considered complete until pressure has been maintained for one hour during which no leaks are detected.
3. Tanks which have been repaired and those which have been dropped or impacted after initial test shall be retested. Tanks shall continue to be retested until a successful leakage test is obtained or the tank shall be replaced.
SECTION: 33 31 50 SUBPART: 3.09.A
Acceptance Tests for Gravity and Low-Pressure Pipelines:
1. Alignment
2. Leakage Test
3. Air Testing: Perform air tests per ASTM F1417 for plastic pipe at Contractor’s option in lieu of exfiltration test for pipe sizes up to and including 42 inches (1050mm) in diameter.
SECTION: 33 31 50 SUBPART: 3.09.B
Acceptance Tests for Pressure Pipelines:
1. Perform hydrostatic pressure and leakage tests.
a. Conform to AWWA C600procedures
b. Perform after backfilling.
2. Test separately in segments between sectionalizing valves, between a sectionalizing valve and a test plug, or between test plugs.
3. Limit fill rate of line to available venting capacity.
4. Government shall make water for testing available to Contractor at nearest source (at
Government’s lowest rate step).
5. Pressure and Leakage Test.
SECTION: 33 31 50 SUBPART: 3.09.C
Acceptance Test for HDPE Pressure Pipe:
1. Pressure test with water after pipe has been laid and initial launching and sidefill placement, as specified by PPI Handbook of Polyethylene Pipe.
SECTION: 33 31 50 SUBPART: 3.09.D
1. Maximum installed deflections of flexible pipe.
2. Contracting Officer may require Contractor to test flexible pipe after backfill has been in place 30 days.
SECTION: 33 31 50 SUBPART: 3.09.E
Soil Corrosion Testing:
1. Perform electrical conductivity test on bonded pipe segments.
2. Perform pipe-to-soil potential surveys.
3. Submit 3 copies of test and survey reports to Contracting Officer.
SECTION: 33 32 13 SUBPART: 2.03.D
Testing: Furnish certified copies of results of test prior to shipment. All valves shall be subjected to an AWWA C504 procedure cycle life and pressure leak test at 1034 kPa (450 psi) and a body hydrostatic test at 2068 kPa (300 psi). Valves shall be capable of providing drip-tight shutoff up to the full leak test rating. Certify reverse pressure capacity.
