*prorated pursuant to Article 12.4

12.4 Vacation time for all employees is earned based on the employee’s hours worked. The amount earned is calculated by the number of hours worked in the previous year, plus vacation time actually taken, plus sick time actually taken, divided by 1664 (32 hours per week X 52 weeks per year), and then multiplied by the maximum vacation hours for that employee’s years of service. No employee may earn more than the maximum for that employee’s years of service.

This decreases situations where Employees request large blocks of vacation throughout multiple months, decreasing perceived vacation availability for other Employees, only to shorten and/or cancel the vacation as the dates near.

Example: If an Employee accrued 80 hours of vacation on their last anniversary date, they cannot request 40 hours of vacation in the months of June, July, August, and September totaling a combined 160 hours of scheduled vacation.
