Contractors' Questions

Item Sheet No. or Specs Contractor Question or Information Needed Government Response 19 SPEC. Section 11 06 40.

Refrigeration system is to be air-cooled semi-hermetic condensing unit at 1.9kW and 208V/50Hz/3Ph.

However, the benefits of semi-hermetic (repairable) have been overtaken by the availability of cheaper brand new hermetic (sealed) units with better reliability compared to repaired semi-hermetics.

Please advise if hermetic units are acceptable.

Please see revised attachment 11 06 40.13-A in this amendment (Am-0006).

20 SPEC. Section 11 06 40.

Related to above, the 3-phase units for the refrigeration system results in selection of bigger units (overcapacity). For example, 1.1kW can be served well by a 0.5HP hermetic unit at 200- 220V/1PH/50Hz. If the voltage is at 3-phase, the unit becomes

1.0HP.

Please advise if the 3 phase units are acceptable.

Unit shall remain 3 phase.

21 General To place micro pile machinery, existing openings may be too small.

Additional opening may be required. To examine possible additional opening locations, as-built drawings shall be beneficial. As-built drawings shall be also beneficial for other items.
