About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers file for a Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) System contract opportunity. The Q&A provides specific technical details about the project, including work schedule, boring specifications, and equipment requirements. Key details include:

The project involves approximately 20 LIF borings to a total depth of 55 feet below ground level, with work days to be consecutive. Equipment specifications include using a Geoprobe 7822 rig and 1.44" Vertek speed thread rods. The site surface is maintained lawn/grass, with no borings to be advanced through concrete or asphalt. Boring logs from previous investigations (MW-7 and 8) are attached to help contractors plan for potential site challenges. The investigation's scope allows for potential adjustments in boring depths and quantities based on LIF results.

Work Schedule

Q. The Performance Work Statement (PWS) indicates that the work may include weekends.

Could you please confirm if the 7 days of LIF system operation are expected to be consecutive (including weekends), or will the work be scheduled on weekdays only?

A. The work days will be consecutive

Number of Borings and Depths Q. Could you provide an estimate of the number of LIF borings anticipated for this project, as well as the planned depths for each boring?

A. We anticipate approximately 20 LIF borings to a total depth of 55 feet below ground level. Because this is an investigation the borings depths and quantities may change based on the LIF results.

Thread Type for Vertek CPT System Q. If we are working with the Vertek CPT system, could you please share the specific thread type or pattern to ensure our LIF subs are compatible? This will help us determine if new subs need to be fabricated.

A. We use the 1.44” vertek speed thread rods.

Geoprobe Rig Model Q. If the project involves using a Geoprobe rig, could you please confirm the model number and type of rig that will be used? Our preference is to work with a Geoprobe 7822 rig if possible.

A. We use a Geoprobe 7822.

Boring Logs from Previous Investigations Q. The PWS references subsurface conditions and logs (Trinity, 2014). Are these previous boring logs available to be shared with us? This would help us plan for potential site challenges.

A. Boring logs from MW-7 and 8 are attached.

Surface Material Q. The PWS mentions that the site is finished with maintained lawn/grass. Could you please confirm if there are any areas with concrete or asphalt surfaces that we should be aware of?

A. No borings will be advanced through concrete or asphalt.
