About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for Solicitation W912HN25Q5000 for Dredge Material Containment Area (DMCA) and Bird Island Mowing and Herbicide services for Savannah and Brunswick Harbors. The contract requires mowing and maintenance of dike systems across two locations: Savannah Harbor (837 acres) and Brunswick Harbor (72 acres). Mowing frequencies vary between locations, with Savannah requiring three mowings in the base year and four in each option year, while Brunswick requires three mowings annually. Specific mowing dates are prescribed, including March 15, August 1, September 15, and October 15 for full mowing, and April 30, May 30, and June 30 for environmental mowing.

The Q&A document provides additional operational details, including equipment storage provisions. Contractors may establish a laydown area for equipment within a shared staging area located between DMCA12A and the Back River in Jasper County, South Carolina. Fuel storage is permitted onsite, subject to safety and environmental compliance requirements outlined in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Manual 385-1-1. No workshop will be provided, and mowing is not strictly height-dependent, though the document notes some areas may have vegetation up to 6 feet tall. After mowing, vegetation must be cut to a uniform maximum height of 5 inches, with contractors responsible for re-mowing at no additional cost if the initial cut is unsatisfactory.
