Answers to solicitation questions:
1.) Question:
Seatrax drawings #BG-1001 and BG-1002 do not provide any details on the integration of the ring, rails and components on the hull of the barge.
Can the Corps provide any details/information on the crane manufacturer’s requirements for the installation of the ring, rails and components?
Details on the crane ring, rails, and components are shown on the Track Concept (Preliminary) – Bank Grader drawing supplied by Seatrax. Seatrax will supply the all materials above the deck for mounting the crane, to include the bull gear, the ring, track, and track surface. These components will be shipped in pieces for the shipyard to install.
Seatrax technicians will be onsite to assist in the assembling of the components and to assure proper alignment of all components. The shipyard shall be responsible for providing the welding materials and personnel to rig, handle, set, and weld the components to form the ring and track for the crane.
2.) Question:
The solicitation in section C, contract Clause C540, page 39 states the contractor is responsible for:
* Assemble, erect, install, and integrate the crane and boom to the barge
* Support crane start-ups and testing
* The Contractor shall provide all equipment and supplies required to assist Seatrax in spooling the wire rope.
For bidding purposes, can the Corps provide an allotment for calendar days and/or man-hours required to accomplish the three tasks outlined above?
The contractor shall allot 120 calendar days to accomplish the three task outlined above.
3.) Question:
Contract drawing 858-B670-01 shows one (1) sounding tube at a height of 1'6" above the deck with a camlock and cap in the Fuel Oil tank. Specification C670 Item B (page 48 ) states "All tanks shall be provided with vent pipes and sounding tubes as shown on the contract drawings."
Item D states " The sounding tube shall be run as straight as practical and shall be of the flush mount type, with tee wrench to open."
A. Please advise if we need one (1) sounding tube or twenty (20) sounding tubes.
Only (1) sounding tube is required (for the fuel tank)
B. Do sounding tubes need to be 1'6" above the deck with camlock or flush mount type with tee wrench?
The sounding tube shall be constructed as shown on Contract drawing 858-B670-01 (1'6" above the deck with a camlock and cap)
4.) Question:
Contract drawing 858-B670-01 detail 3-B shows a typical void tank vent detail which is a few inches off the deck and does not have an inverted vent check. Specification C670 Item C (page
48) states " Each vent shall terminate by way of a return bend. All vents shall be the invert check type with ball floats. Vent construction, size and height shall be as shown on the contract drawings."
Please advise if all void tank vents need to be similar to the F.O. tank vent detail 4-D (2'6" above the deck with inverted vent checks) or if we need to follow the typical void tank vent detail 3-B on the drawing.
All void vents shall be similar to the F.O. vent (detail 4-D on Contract drawing 858-B670-01). Ball check valves are required for void vents exposed to weather.
