b. Remove silt and debris from lock chamber floor.
c. Remove existing miter gate components including, but not limited to, top anchorage bars connecting the miter gate gudgeon pin to the embedded anchorage frames, all embedded anchorage frame components, all embedded quoin post components, the pintle balls, pintle shoes, and all embedded pintle base components. Refer to reference drawings for existing miter gate components.
d. Replace concrete at the miter gate recesses, and concrete at the upper miter gate sill.

adjustment plan for approval. However, at no point will the Contractor's means and methods include welding the face of the sill beam bearing plate. Lock the sill beams in place prior to move gate leafs away from miter. Adjust the sill corner casting face to be flush with the sill beam and install bolt to lock into place.
c. After the sill beams have been adjusted, adjust the quoin block at the lockwall. CRITICAL: Provide additional personnel located at the quoin end and miter end of each miter gate leaf for the first two complete cycles of the miter gate adjustment process when the gate is placed in the mitered position, to observe potential quoin block contact before the gate is in miter. This has potential for an anchorage bar failure and the miter gate leaf fall into the chamber. Personnel in constant radio communication with the lock operator moving the gate. Any issues, including contact of the quoin blocks prior to full miter, require immediate stopping of the gate leafs and re-evaluation to alleviate the issue. With each gate leaf separately at the miter position, measure the gap between the gate quoin and the wall quoin with no shims installed. If the gap is less than 1/32 inch or greater than 1/16 inch, install shims until measured gap is between 1/32 inch and 1/16 inch. Verify adequate gap by running a 0.030 inch thick 12 inch long feeler gage blade along the whole face of the contact block.
Cycle the gates to ensure gap does not change. Repeat adjustment process until the specified tolerance is achieved in consecutive cycles. Record final gap for each leaf.
d. After the quoin block is adjusted, adjust the miter blocks by bringing the leaves together at miter. CRITICAL: Provide additional personnel located at the quoin end and miter end of each miter gate leaf for the first two complete cycles of the miter gate adjustment when the gate is placed in the mitered position, to observe potential miter block contact before the gate is in miter. Personnel in constant radio communication with the lock operator moving the gate. Any issues, including contact of the miter blocks prior to full miter, require immediate stopping of the gate leafs and re-evaluation to alleviate the issue. Measure gap between miter blocks and install or remove shims so miter blocks are no more than 1/16 inch when in full miter, or just contacting at full miter. Ensure mating miter blocks at same elevation and not misaligned by more than 1/8 inch upstream to downstream.
e. Shim the miter seals for contact with the seal plates.
f. Shim the miter guide to have an 1/2 inch gap when the gates are mitered with hydraulic head.
3.5.2.2 Gate Leaf Plumbness
Include in the Miter Gate Adjustment Plan step-by-step directions of the method and procedure for measuring the out-of-plane dimensions and where each of the 15 measurement points are located, and the process to plumb the gate leaf by tensioning all the diagonals to within their specified ranges that is based on the re-surveyed initial out-of-plane measurements.
a. Establish a reference plane parallel to the downstream face of the gate. Then establish 15 measurement point locations between the reference plane and the downstream face of the leaf. The 15 measurement point locations must be laid out as 3 rows of 5 equally spaced points along the leaf as follows:
