About this file

This document is an Amendment (Amendment 0001) to the federal solicitation W912DW25QA008 for AFD Modulating Valve Temperature Controllers issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District. The amendment includes a questions and answers (Q&A) section addressing technical specifications for the modulating valve, specifically clarifying flow rate requirements and valve sizing for the project.

The key technical clarification involves the modulating valve's flow characteristics, with the government confirming that while the valve typically operates in the 36-50 GPM flow rate range, the system must be capable of handling up to 120 GPM during infrequent system conditions. The amendment allows vendors to propose a smaller valve as long as it can accommodate the full 120 GPM flow rate, with a recommendation to optimize the valve size for the typical flow range. Bidders are required to acknowledge receipt of this amendment by number and date on their offer, with all other solicitation terms and conditions remaining unchanged.

AMENDMENT 0001

Summary of Changes for Amendment 0001

The purpose of this amendment is to include questions and answers (Q&A). The Q&A is provided as follows:

• Questions from Interested Contractor: Can you please that the modulating valve is only needed for the 36-50 GPM flow rate? If that is the case, can the customer accept a smaller sized valve?

• Answers: There are multiple flow rates, and flow ranges, identified to help potential vendors understand the system characteristics and requirements.

o We recognize that the 4” modulating loop is oversized. We do not have the original engineering documents to interrogate. The ranges listed in the PD are from observation of the system in use over many years.

o The modulating valve typically operates in the 36-50 GPM flow rate. There are infrequent system conditions where the flow rate can be as high as 120 GPM. This information is noted in the PD.

o A smaller valve is acceptable so long as the loop is capable of the 120 GPM flow rate. That said, the size of the modulating loop should be optimized for the typical flow range to the extent possible.

• IMPORTANCE NOTICE: Bidders must acknowledge receipt of this amendment by number and date on offer.

• All other terms and conditions remain the same
