Section 01 10 00 - STATEMENT OF WORK 3 R0006
PART 1 - DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OBJECTIVES
1.1. GENERAL
The objective of this project is to convert 58 buildings in the East Division area from central plant heating systems to individual, local heat sources. Most buildings will be fitted with new natural gas fired boilers.
This requires removal of existing heating equipment and installing new natural gas service lines, boilers, radiant heaters, heat pumps, and ancillary equipment. Motor pool and hangar work bays shall be fitted with infrared radiant heat systems. Additionally, a small number of buildings shall be fitted with heat pump based HVAC systems. Where necessary, new mechanical space shall be constructed to accommodate the new equipment.
Work for this project shall include decentralizing all buildings connected to Central Plants 9, 10, and 11;
decommissioning and “mothballing” the central plants; demolishing and backfilling 37 utility vaults; and infilling of approximately 5,944 linear feet of steam pipe utility corridor.
Design and construction shall comply with the specifications and requirements contained in this Performance Work Statement (PWS). The criteria contained in this PWS establish minimum standards for design and construction quality.
The Contractor is responsible for providing all labor and materials to design and construct complete and functional heating systems for all buildings according to the work described in this Project Work Statement.
1.1.1. Site Area

There will be zero cost associated with Puget Sound Energy’s installation of gas mains, service lines, and meters. All work for providing gas service to appliances downstream of the meters shall be performed by the Contractor. Additional details can be found in Paragraph GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM below.
1.1.3. Demolition Considerations and Requirements
