3.2. SITE DESIGN

3.2.1. Pedestrian Circulation.

Ensure that existing paved circulation routes are maintained after building additions are completed.

3.2.2. Grading.

A primary design objective is to prevent all future development of facilities from adding to the existing runoff quantity leaving the Base. Grading design, therefore, should manage site runoff to maintain rate of flow and quantity to pre-construction levels, or reduce site runoff when possible.

The principles of positive drainage should be applied to control the conditions which remove rainfall away from facilities and functions. Site designs should seek to minimize the disturbance of land and utilize natural drainage paths where possible. Grading shall properly interface with adjacent facilities to insure runoff does not cause damage or problems to adjoining facilities or properties.

3.3. LANDSCAPE DESIGN

3.3.1. General Requirements

The landscape design shall be limited to site restoration.

3.3.2. Topsoil

Areas disturbed by construction activities shall receive 4 inches minimum of topsoil and be seeded to a low-maintenance, field-grass mix to control erosion.
