About this file

This document includes a water quality certification and associated permit conditions for the Fire Island Inlet to Montauk Point, Contract 2 project. The USACE New York District will execute construction for dredging Moriches and Shinnecock Inlets between Smith Point County Park and Shinnecock Inlet. The project includes inlet sand bypassing, beach fill on the Atlantic shorefront, and one coastal process feature. Permitted work must follow conditions such as conducting dredging and beach work outside of restricted dates and windows to avoid impacts to species like piping plovers, least terns, and fish. The permit also specifies post-construction survey and monitoring requirements.
