BIDDER’S QUESTIONS AND GOVERNMENT REPLY (FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY)
1. Bid Item #0005 OPTION #01 EXT APF Portion Calls for doors and windows along with EIFS, Pavement, and fencing. However, Drawing A-601 indicates six (6) door openings as APF Funded Drawing A-603 per window schedule indicates five (5) each APF Funded Window units. Please advise if these items are to be included in ITEM 0005- OPTION #01. Response: Please refer to the revised bid schedule. All exterior doors are APF funded and all those outlined on the plans shall be included in the appropriate line item.
2. Per response to question #03 on Amendment #05, we are still unclear if the covered storage calls for EIFS under OPTION #01. We do understand Covered Storage receives brick veneer in OPTION #02. COVER STORAGE PORTION: If OPTION #02 is to be a deduct, we need clarification on where it is deducted from in OPTION #01. Response: Please refer to revised bid schedule as issued in this amendment. Option 2 is only the difference in price for Brick Veneer/Cast Stone in lieu of EIFS.
3. In the event that Option # 1 is not awarded: a. Should the base bid include painting of the new CMU wall extensions to match the exiting exterior walls. b. Does Option # 1 include all doors and windows, or only those designated as APF Funded on drawings A-601 and A-603? Response:
a. Yes. b. Please refer to revised bid schedule as issued in this amendment.
4. Specification 086200, Skylights, page 4 indicates that skylights shall be subject to approval based on their ability to withstand a "large missile test". Please clarify if this is really a requirement as it is extremely expensive. Response: Requirement is hereby removed.
5. Specification 083323, Overhead Coiling Doors, Page 3 indicates that OH doors are to pass "missile impact testing". Just to give you and indication, these OH doors without this requirement will cost approximately $100,000.00 (for 18). Doors designed to comply with this requirement will cost approximately $500,000.00 (for 18). Response: Requirement is hereby removed.
6. Drawing E-101 note #6 directs us to install a l/O ground cable from the new ground bar to the Photo Lab Building Mechanical Room. Please provide a drawing as to how and where this ground cable goes. Response: Note is hereby revised in this amendment.
7. Issuance of Addendum #4 drawing E-801 is now directing the contractor to install new fiber optic and copper voice cable. Please provide a drawing as to how and where these cables are to go.
Response: The fiber is already in COMM rm #0211 located above at the exterior wall, Tie this into the fiber optic patch panel (FOPP) see 2/E-801. Copper is in the SE corner of work bay 0300 tie in from there to COMM rm 0211.
8. Amendment 3, Page 5 of 5, Note 5 indicates that some CMU must be replaced. How many broken or damaged CMU are there? Please provide a drawing or written direction so that we may estimate it accurately. Response: Note is hereby revised in this amendment.
9. The natural gas totals as shown on the schedule of equipment totals 1,988 CFH. The schematic for the natural gas systems (Sheet M-701) total 2,058 CFH. The schematic does not include the domestic water, add 120 CFH or a total of 2, 1 78 CFH. The schematic indicates an existing pressure regulator, no capacity nor pressure indicated. At less than 2 psi, 0.3" PD, 0.60 Specific Gravity, 3" pipe@ 175' = 1,820 CFH, 4" pipe@ 175' = 3,720 CFH. a. Drawings show 3" pipe main. Is 4" required or is pressure higher than 2 psi? b. Are secondary regulators required at the equipment? Response: Please refer to specification section 23 11 23.
10. The specification requires Lead painted components to be "abated" under NJAC 5:17. This will unnecessarily add to the cost of the project. Can these components simply be removed under the standard lead and construction schedule and disposed of as construction debris as per EPA regulation? Response: See spec section 020810 table 1. Any items to be removed from the project and not reused can be disposed of as construction debris. For the floor strips if they are sanded for removal they will have to be abated. The doors to be disposed of do not have to be abated.
