Section E – “G. GFE ROBOTICS TESTS (LEVEL 3”
Specified 15,000 lb test weights for the overhead gantry crane load tests.
CHANGE (2)
C315 (B)
Clarified: “The deckhouse stanchions shall be 6” SCH 80 as shown on the Deckhouse Construction drawing. The Contractor shall update the weight estimate to show the correct stanchion sizing.”
CHANGE (3)
C305 (B)
Clarified – “The reel alley floor shall be ¼” plate.”
CHANGE (4)
C655 Hydraulic System (J)
Clarified – “For bidding purposes, each HPU shall be equipped with dual redundant motors. HPU #1 shall be powered by two 150 HP redundant motors, and HPU #2 shall be powered by two 300 HP redundant motors. The HPU’s shall utilize AC power.”
C655 - Corrected paragraph letters.
CHANGE (5)
C705 AC Electrical System (B)
Clarified – “Note: The one-line drawing currently shows HPU #’s 1-4, however there are only two HPU’s required (HPU 1 & HPU 2). Each HPU requires two redundant motors in accordance with Section C655 (J). Each motor for each HPU shall be fed power via different 750 VDC buses (forward and aft). As an example – the motors for HPU 1 shall be fed power as follows: HPU Motor “1A” shall be fed power via the aft 750 VDC bus and HPU Motor “1B” shall be fed power via the forward 750 VDC bus.”
CHANGE (6)
C550 Spuds (B)
Added – “The Government recognizes that the Contract Drawing shows the spuds from another Army Corps vessel not related to the Mat Sinking Unit. For bidding purposes (until the final spud design drawing is provided to the contractor), the contractor shall bid on constructing and installing two (2) of the spuds shown on the Contract Drawing.“
CHANGE (7)
C456 (B) – specified what layer the mooring winch is rated at. Specified line speed for barge handling winch.
C554 (C) – specified line speed for spud winch.
CHANGE (8)
C554 (B) SPUD HANDLING SYSTEM
Clarified: “Note: The scope of work does not include construction & installation of the spud hinge/cradle. The hinge/cradle itself will be added to the Contract at a later date by Contract Modification. The hinge/cradle design details will be provided by the Government at that time. “
CHANGE (9)
C430 (C)
Specified steel for the plate flooring.
CHANGE (10)
C705 (B)
Added: “While the one-line & load analysis drawing provided shows the total load for all the traction winches as 200 kW, the Government currently estimates the actual sum of the traction winch loads to be 400 kW. The Contractor shall update the one-line and load analysis and revise the vessel’s electrical system design as necessary to account for this load.
The motor size for each traction winch is estimated to be approximately 75-100 HP.”
CHANGE (11)
C598 (I)
Clarified – “The Contractor shall install the GFE sonar transducer in the transducer well. Assume the transducer well is 10 ft. starboard of centerline, at midship. Note – construction of the transducer well itself is not included in the scope of work and will be included by contract modification at a later date.
The current scope of work shall only include the final installation of the transducer (install transducer device, provide and run cabling, etc.).”
CHANGE (12)
C598 (B)
Added:
“The government has estimated that all GFE components and systems that are required to be installed in C598 (excluding the Traction Winch Systems, Launch Wire Clamping & Cutting Systems, and Robotics Central Control Hub) may require approximately 9,500 man hours to install.
Note - VFD’s for Robotics GFE are to be supplied by the robotics integrator.”

CHANGE (17)
C550 (B)
Added: “For bidding purposes, the contractor shall assume the spud handling system configuration is similar to that shown in the below image. Note that the scope of work includes only the final installation of the spud (Reeve spud winch wire rope through deck sheave, through the spud sheave, and dead-end at a pad-eye on deck) as shown in the image below. For bidding purposes, the Contractor shall assume that the Government will provide and install the deck sheave and pad-eye.”
(See Contract Spec section C550 (B) for image of spud handling sheave system configuration)
C554 (C)
Clarified – “Wire rope capacity shall be 325 ft. for each winch. The Contractor is responsible for reeving the wire rope on the winch drums. See Contract section C550 for additional requirements for reeving the spud hoist winch wire through the sheave system.”
Clarified – “Suitable guards shall be provided NEAR THE WINCH around exposed wire rope for personnel safety, and painted yellow.”
Deleted the following requirement: “Keepers shall be provided to prevent the wire rope from jumping off the sheaves due to slackness of the wire.”
Added: “The Government recognizes that the winch performance characteristics may have to be altered at a later point by Contract Modification, once the spud design is finalized. For bidding purposes, the Contractor shall bid on providing the winches called out in this contract specification.”
C554 (D)
Clarified – “Wire rope capacity shall be 135 ft. for each winch. The contractor is responsible for reeving the wire rope on the drums and through the one deck fairlead. For bidding purposes, the Contractor shall assume the deck fairlead is provided and installed by the Government.”
C554 (E)
Added: “For the spud cylinders, the contractor shall assume the hydraulic cylinder configuration shall be similar to that shown on the image included below. This is an image of the cylinder on the existing unit.
For bidding purposes, the Contractor shall provide a rod size (diameter) of 3”. The Government estimates the overall length of the required hydraulic cylinder with the rod fully extended to be approximately 6 to 8’. For bidding purposes, the rod and cylinder shall be stainless steel. The mount type shall be MP1. The Contractor shall further develop the design of the hydraulic cylinder during the engineering phase.”
(See Contract Spec Section C554 (E) for image of hydraulic cylinder)
CHANGE (18)
