Interior access will generally not be limited, but there is a sequencing of work in specific areas to be performed outlined in the documents. The building will be occupied during the construction activities and coordination will be required for protection of occupants, protection of equipment, maintenance of fire exits, etc. which may limit certain areas where the work can be performed. Deviation from the sequence defined must be approved by the contracting officer.

Normal business hours are from 0630 to 1630 Monday through Friday excluding Federal Holidays. See specification section 01 30 00.24, paragraph 1.21. On: Sep 24 2024

There are fixtures (lights, conduits, etc) and a sprinkler system located on the underside of the roof system. These may need to be relocated to allow for the installation of the insulation system on the underside.

Would the Govt consider an alternative insulation system consisting of a rigid insulation board on top of the existing purlins?

The proposed alternative will meet the R-value and air barrier requirements of the existing specification and obviate the need to relocate the attachments on the underside of the roof.

All obstructions shall be unfastened and refastened to permit installation of the continuous vapor retarder membrane/fabric liner membrane support and insulation support system. Included in the scope is thorough and temporary support of fixtures (lights, conduits, sprinkler system, etc.), momentary disconnection and reattachment of such of items attached to the underside of the roof structure to facilitate installation of the continuous vapor retarder membrane/fabric liner membrane support and insulation support system. Items that are not possible to temporarily disconnect can be left in place and a field splice of the continuous vapor retarder membrane/fabric liner membrane support and insulation support system made at the closet roof purlin which will be sealed and fastened for permanent attachment. Items requiring to be momentarily disconnected and reattached that are not part of the insulation and support assembly system sub-contractor's typical work shall be accommodated in the scope of the work by trades applicable to those items.

The roof assembly, insulation, and continuous vapor retarder membrane/fabric liner membrane support and insulation support system assembly shall be provided as shown and specified. On: Sep 24 2024

This will cause a weak point in the building envelop that will increase the chance of future leaks.

Cutting these areas will result in additional electrical scope to remove and reinstall the exterior lighting.

The existing problems identified can be corrected with an inspection during the demo process and installing proper closures and flashing as part of the new roof assembly.

Sec 07 61 14.00 20 Para .3.1 b. states:

Panels must be continuous lengths up to manufacturer's standard longest lengths, with no joints or seams, except where indicated or specified. Ribs of adjoining sheets must be in continuous contact from eave to ridge. Individual panels of snap together type systems must be removable for replacement of damaged material.

Are offerors we to interpret this to mean that only symmetrical seam panels are to be quoted for this project - eg T-panels?

Government Response. . Seams of panels are configured that when adjacent sheets are installed the seam is sealed utilizing mechanical or hand seamers.

The roofing system shall be a structural standing seam roofing system. Structural standing seam roofing is defined as a system designed to be a water barrier system (hydrostatic) that resists the passage of water at joints, laps and junctures under hydrostatic pressure. The system has the strength and capability of spanning structural members without being supported by a solid roof deck. The system shall be designed in accordance with ASTM E1514.

There must be no exposed or penetrating fasteners.
