1.2 RELATED REQUIREMENTS

Materials not considered to be lighting equipment or lighting fixture accessories are specified in Section 26 20 00 INTERIOR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. Lighting fixtures and accessories mounted on exterior surfaces of buildings are specified in this section.

Materials in this technical specification may contribute towards contract compliance with sustainability requirements. See Section 01 33 29 LEED DOCUMENTATION for project requirements.

1.3 DEFINITIONS

a. Unless otherwise specified or indicated, electrical and electronics terms used in these specifications, and on the drawings, shall be as defined in IEEE 100.

b. Average life is the time after which 50 percent will have failed and 50 percent will have survived under normal conditions.

c. Total harmonic distortion (THD) is the root mean square (RMS) of all the harmonic components divided by the total fundamental current.

1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

1.4.1 Lighting Control System

Provide lighting control system as indicated. Lighting control equipment shall include, if indicated: control panels, control modules, power packs, dimming ballasts, occupancy sensors, and light level sensors. Wireless control devices and systems are prohibited.

A Digital Lighting Management (DLM) modular sensor and control system using an intelligent distributed control system with plug-and-go capability may be provided at the contractor's option in lieu of an analog sensor and control system at no additional cost to the government. Controls shall perform the functions indicated in the lighting control functional diagrams. No loss of functionality as described in the contract documents shall be allowed. Utility rooms (electrical, telecom, mechanical, fire protection, elevator equipment and pit, and chases) and Arms Vault shall be provided with standalone controls independant of a central control system is this alternative system is provided. Auxiliary control devices shall be provided as required to interface luminaires with non-digital components to digital control system or alternative luminaires meeting the salient properties consistent with the basis of design fixtures listed shall be provided with compatible control interfaces for a fully compatible and functional lighting system. Digital system components (including but not limited to control panels, power loss sensors, emergency power control including interfaces to fire alarm system, gateways, controllers, distribution hubs, automation processors, BMS interface compatible with building DDC system protocol, power supplies, keypads, time switches, contactors, dimming/switching panels, occupancy sensors of all types required, keyed switches, photoelectric switches, PoE switches, system integration modules, dimmer modules, open- and closed-loop photocells, and wall switch occupancy sensors) and system cabling and raceways shall provided to form an integrated system. The system cannot be connected to

SECTION 26 51 00 Page 6 the base data network and will require on-site programming personnel present during installation, commissioning, and six (6) months post-occupancy to adjust controls based on user preferences. This paragraph applies to any digital lighting system, whether a portion of the overall lighting control system or the entirety of the system. The system may share common control/processing equipment with an exterior DLM system ( 26 56 00) if components are compatible.[AM_0003] Unless otherwise indicated, the DLM system shall be a self-contained and shall not be connected to any other network or system. The DLM system is permitted to receive an open/closed contact input from the fire alarm system and to provide an open/closed contact from occupancy sensors to the HVAC DDC system. The DLM system and components are permitted to receive line voltage power from panels indicated to be metered as "Lighting", which are on a 480/277V system. The DLM system shall not require or engage in two-way communications with any other network or system. DLM network cabling shall have a purple jacket.[*AM_0003][AM_0006] The contractor shall be responsible for coordinating the compatibility of luminaire ballasts and drivers to properly function with the DLM system. Add-on modules such as luminaire control modules required to provide an interface between the ballast or driver and the DLM system and/or to ensure compatibility shall be provided as part of the system and at no additional cost to the government. For the DLM system, each ballast or LED driver shall be individually addressable. Plans indicate 0-10V ballasts and drivers.[*AM_0006]
