About this file

This document is a Bidder Inquiries Q&A for USACE project W9127N25BA010, dated 04SEP25, containing three key contractor questions and official responses. The questions address specific project details for what appears to be a jetty reconstruction or repair project, including onsite weighing requirements, stone handling procedures, and sand dune preservation specifications. In the responses, USACE clarifies that: (1) onsite weighing scales are mandatory and cannot be waived, (2) existing relic stone should be repositioned within the project's interior core layer and enveloped in new armor stone rather than removed, and (3) a specific sand dune area from station 6+50 to 8+50 must remain undisturbed, with any excavated sand to be restored after stone placement and inspection.

Bidder Inquiries Q&A

W9127N25BA010

04SEP25

Question #1

Similar to the Port Orford Jetty Repair Project, will the USACE waive the onsite weigh scales requirements and allow for the jetty rock to be weighed at the quarry prior to transporting from the source to the project?

Response: USACE will not waive onsite scales for this project.

Question #2

Please clarify if the contractor should anticipate waste and disposal of existing relic stone not suitable for reincorporating into the work, and provide an estimated quantity.

Response: Unsuitable relic stone may be encountered during reconstruction and repair work. This may result in the unsuitable relic armor stone breaking during repositioning or handling. The contractor should not expect to remove relic stone from within the design template. All relic stone repositioned during reconstruction or repair should be expected to be reincorporated within the interior core layer and enveloped in new armor stone or suitable relic armor.

Question #3

Please clarify the limits of the sand dune to remain undisturbed as noted on Sheet G-004

Response: The limits of the sand dune are not static and change seasonally. The current approximate location of the dune is from STA 6+50 to 8+50. The intent of this requirement is to leave the current vegetated dune fully in-place, without disturbance. Excavation west of 8+50 is authorized if needed for stone placement. However, any sand which is removed must be restored once placement and inspection is complete.
