Replace damaged material with new material or repair using a procedure approved by the Engineer. Protect completed assemblies/structures from the environment. Shipping of the structures is to be at the Contractor's expense. Deliver all structures to John Day Powerhouse per Sections 01 10 10.00 25, CONTRACTOR'S OPERATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS and 01 11 00.00 25, SUMMARY OF WORK. Coordinate through the Portland District CO for deliveries. Arrange the structures on the delivery vehicles such that no damage occurs during shipping. Direct all slings and lifting lugs up.
Submit Delivery/Shipping Plan drawings providing descriptions of methods of delivering the completed structural units, including details for support during shipment to prevent distortion or other damages, and orientation and location of the structures on the delivery vehicles prior to shipment for Government approval.
1.9 TRASH RACK HANDLING

Include details, diagrams and/or drawings that identify the plan for lifting the trash rack from a horizontal to a vertical position. Include the locations, method of lift and all attachments to the trash racks(s) in the trash rack handling plan. Government Cranes are only equipped to handle trash rack in the vertical position. The Contractor is permitted to operate the tashrake crane. Contractor to deliver trash racks in the upright position dogged in such a manner that the existing crane and lifting beam can reach and handle the trash racks.
1.10 LIFTING BEAM VERIFICATION TEST
Verify the existing John Day trash rack lifting beam for correct fit up with trash rack to be provided. Contractor is required to ship the lifting beam back and forth between John Day Powerhouse and the Contractor's fabrication shop to perform the fit up test. The Contractor must return the lifting beam to John Day Powerhouse by close of business no more than four days from the day the beam is shipped from John Day Powerhouse (e.g.
ship out on Monday, receive back on Thursday same week). Test the existing lifting beam in the shop after fabrication of the trash rack, but prior to shipment back to John Day Powerhouse, to verify that the existing lifting beam latches to the new trash rack. A Government witness will be present for the lifting beam verification test, unless notified in writing otherwise. Provide a minimum 30 calendar days notification to the Government prior to the lifting beam verification test. The lifting beam verification test is to be performed on each trash rack section in the shop to verify fit up. Notify the Engineer of Record and CO if any fit up problems occur. Government approval is required prior to any corrective action taken due to fit up problems. Retest any section that had any corrective action taken. Coordinate with the Government a time that the lifting beam can be removed from John Day Powerhouse, after submitting the work schedule.
