Q32. Can the wiring of control systems cross between the common areas and the SCIF, or do you need to provide a separate control system per area?
A32. It is typical to allow crossing of low voltage control wiring for sensors, switches, etc. with grounded conduit back to the respective controller, but this will have to be confirmed with the owner. If allowed the contractor would need to follow all pathway/conduit/penetration requirements per Section 26 of the Specs and any SCIF guidelines. If the crossing is with communication cables then the only media that can cross is fiber with the use of fiber converters on both ends. It is safest to install the control panel within the SCIF and terminate all control wiring at the panel locally, and cross fiber for communication with the systems outside the SCIF area.
Q33. What level of LEED is the goal for the Space Control Facility? Silver, Gold, or Platinum?
