The government was recently able to pump the water level down 39' (the crossover goes down 44.5') before hitting significant debris in the crossover chamber that made it impossible to pump it down any further.
This was achieved using one 2" pump (model LB-800 rated at ~30.0 gpm at
44.5 ft) and three 3" pumps (model LB-1500 rated at ~60 gpm at 44.5 ft), it is assumed that during the test we were notachieving full performance out of the pumps due to hose curvature, so those ratings may be lower.
Previous pump down detail is provided for informational purposes only and the contractor is responsible for assessing and determining the pumping needs as part of their means and methods to perform the work. The government was recently able to dewater the crossover down to about 1 foot of sediment/debris. This was accomplished using three 3" pumps (model LB-1500 rated at ~60 gpm at 44.5ft - the depth of the crossover). It is
SECTION 01 35 00.00 08 Page 10 assumed that during the test, the pumps were not achieving their full performance due to hose curvature, so actual ratings may have been lower.
Two of these pumps were used on the Land Wall side access and the third was used on the River Wall side access. The government will again pump down the crossover prior to Contractor access in order to clear out the remaining sediment/debris. Previous pump down details are provided for informational purposes only and the Contractor is responsible for assessing and determining the pumping needs as part as their means and methods to perform the work.
