QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q1. Can the Site Superintendent act also as the QCM and the SSHO (1 person wearing all three hats)?

A1. Yes, as long all the training requirements are met.

Q2.Are there any hazardous materials within the carpet and base adhesives or work areas?

A2. No, this building are fairly new, bldg. 520 built 2003, and 370 built 1992

Q3.Due to the occupied areas, will any phasing be required? If so,please provide an anticipated phasing plan.

A3. Depending on the time of year, bldg. 370 will have training, but contractor will be notify ahead of time to work a schedule. Bldg. 520 there is not schedule as this building is always occupy, we just have to work around them, firemen are aware of the project.

Q4.The SOW requires the contractor to move existing office furniture. Does this include computers, copiers, printers, or any personal items?

A4. Yes, but if fire department are willing to help with electronics and computers. Bldg. 370 there is one printer that we can ask our maintenance contract to move if required.

Q5.Are there areas within the facilities where the existing office furniture can be temporarily placed during construction? Or will the contractor be required to provide temporary storage containers?

A5. At bldg 520 we have the tv room that is large enough to hold up to two offices. Bldg. 370 no need for temporary holding furniture.

Q6.There is a built-in cabinet/armoire within the bedrooms of Bldg.520. The cabinet is wrapped with 6" cove base. Is this base to be removed and 4" cove base installed in its place?

A6. No, contractor shall install new 6" cove base.

Q7. The existing Cove base is 4". When the existing carpet is removed and the 1/*" Vinyl tile is installed the new base will set lower than the original. The outcome of that will be a horizontal line that was previously covered by the original base. If it is not painted or painted and not matched to existing paint the walls will look terrible. Would the Government desire the Contractor to Install 4 1/ " Base if available?

A7. Yes, no more than 4 1/2"-5" the existing carpet seems not to have padding so it should only be a small difference. Also, bldg. 520 wall lockers and cabinets have 8" cove base that will required to install.

Q8. In building 370 we are to install floor covering in the Elevator. Does the Government desire Coin flooring made of sheet vinyl or rubber as per the conversation at the site visit.

A8.We prefer Coin Flooring, it last longer and is more rigid for heavy rolling carts.
