Questions and Answers #2 In Response to Combined Synopsis/Solicitation W911QY-23-R-IDCL
S2PRINT Integrated Data Collection Lab
PLEASE NOTE: A lot of the responses to these questions need to be determined during the design process.
Responses were based on desired goals, for proposal purposes.
Question 1:
Does any Audio/Video equipment need to go in the Small US/UX Lab?
Answer 1:
Yes.
Question 2:
Will the eye-trackers be used with a screen, or will they be used with someone moving around (if it will be used in tandem with a screen, then a screen based eye tracker is best)?
Answer 2:
Need to be able to be used moving around and without screen.
Question 3:
Can you give us a generic use case for how the eye-tracking glasses will be used?
Answer 3:
•Traditional UX/US scenario of completing tasks on a digital handheld device •less traditional use of using when donning equipment or trying to access pockets/features of body worn equipment •incorporation with other standardize testing for more conclusive results – e.g., looking at an eye chart, completing a screen based cognitive decision-making task, tracking field of regard spaces •looking down a rifle (ideally with a scope) to aim at a paper target.
•ideally, these could be integrated with other head-borne equipment (helmets, eyewear, visor, potentially with
A/R or night vision)
Question 4:
Will the eye-trackers be used in the UX Labs or HSI Labs, or somewhere else?
Answer 4:
Primarily in the UX or HSI labs, but having the ability to take them into the real world is a big plus.
Question 5:
Do you want to capture gaze overlay from the scene cameras live while using eye-tracking glasses?
Answer 5:
Does not need to be live, can be stored.
Question 6:
Eye-tracking glasses cannot detect saccades (the sampling rate is too low). Would a screen-based eye-tracker suffice for this data point (this screen-based eye-tracker is portable)?
Answer 6:
Most of our data collections will not be in front of screens or within small windows of space.
Question 7:
For every eye-tracker, you will need a computer monitor, with the monitor residing in either the control room or the subject room. Given the technical and space constraints above, can you let us know how many eye-tracking glasses you want and how many portable screen-based eye trackers you want?
Answer 7:
At this point, it is unknown, but our estimate is between 6-12 with the breakdown between the types of systems;
unknown at this time.
