It appears the H Pile will be driven through "quarry run rock". Can you find out if there was a maximum size spec to this material, or are there photos? If these are more than 3 or 4 inch material, it could be difficult to drive to the required tolerance for the wall. If the original contractor drove pile and backfilled with 4' rock, it could be a huge effort to excavate and drive the new pile.
On: Jul 10 2019.
Government Response. . The contract documents include the best available information on this material {see "EXISTING MAIN (ROCK) BREAKWATER WITH STEEL AND TIMBER WAVE BARRIER NOTES" on sheet C-301}. On: Jul 18 2019

Comment Classification: Unclassified\\For Official Use Only (U\\FOUO)
Amendment #2 addressed several issues related to the lumber and treating. It deleted the terms "surfaced dry" from the referenced specification. The previous request was relative to the term "dry" and the moisture content of the lumber prior to treating. By removing the term "surfaced" is it your intent to require rough lumber or is "surfaced" (S4S S-GRN) material desired. Is either rough or surfaced allowed?
On: Aug 06 2019.
Government Response. . Rough lumber is not allowed. On: Aug 08 2019
