Vendor Questions ‐1 June 2021
1. Do we need to provide city permits and traffic control plans running down STJ Mills Road?
A traffic control plan is needed if you plan on disrupting any traffic flow anywhere on the installation. You will probably not be able to close both northbound lanes but one lane should be permitted. A traffic plan should be submitted
2. It looks like you are asking us to Provide/Install two 4” PVC concrete encased ducts, schedule 40 from MH3085 to two 4” ducts extending from the new NMWM facility or the meet me point of the duct installed from the NMWM facility to approximately 300 feet. We only see one 4 inch conduit installed. Are there two and if so where are they located?
These ducts were installed by the NMWM contractor. They were installing two 4”ducts from the new NMWM to your connection point but if only one duct was installed then only one duct is needed to MH3085.
3. What is the footage from the lighting protector on the wall to the rack to be terminated on the 48 port patch panel?
The exact footage is not known at this time but is in the same communication room. It should be appr. 100 feet or less.
4. What amount of slack do you want in manholes and inside the NMWM facility?
No more than 50 feet of fiber/copper cable slack in the new NMWM facility.
The slack shall be installed & attached to the manhole attachments long the walls
With only one to two coils of slack in manholes
5. Do you require a certain PSI on the concrete that will be encased?
2,000 to 3,000 PSI
6. Will you be providing cable tags, or do we need to provide them?
The contractor shall be required to provide cable tags. NEC personnel will provide the naming convention of the cables during installation.
7. Is the existing 300 ft of two 4” ducts that the NMWM project installed concrete encased?
Was Maxcell installed in the duct?
The NEC does not know the answer to this question.
8. Do we need to install stick pipe for the two 4” schedule 40 duct?
Yes, only for the duct that you are installing.
9. Will the fiber we install need to be armored or non‐armored?
Non‐armored. The fiber shall be installed in ducts so non‐armored cable is authorized.
10. In MH 3387, what is the existing OSP enclosure?
There are existing fiber/copper cable splicing enclosures that the contractor shall use for splicing.
11. Per the site visit the base wanted to have all the new cable that are being pulled from MH
3387 to MH 3085 to be installed in existing Maxell. Is there enough space to install the cable in the Maxell? If there is not any space, how should we install the new cable?
There are no Maxell currently installed for this section. Innerducts are installed the entire path with pull strings which the contractor is authorized to utilize.
