Given OSD's CBM+ acquisition initiative, will the Government please confirm that the Army is going to employ CBM+ for SSS and that sufficient testability characteristics have been incorporated in the design solution to allow implementation of a CMB+ sustainment solution? If so, will these details be provided with the next iteration of the TDP?
In light of the DOD Joint 2020 initiative, yes CBM+ should be included most effectively prior in the design process prior to the acquisition process begins. This program will maximize the use of the technical manual, knowledge gained from test events, production, training and knowledge gained form embedded diagnostics and FRACAS data. This is a very small program and the program office is employing equipment that is already used in the FP Community. The maintain and sustainment strategy will be developed to monitor costs and provide the best equipment to the warfighter.
How often in the previous TSS program was the need of the Security Engineer to be deployed to the field?
There is no direct predecessor to TSS however, similar quick reaction programs Field Service Representatives numbers have varied based on the number of systems deployed. The Government does not expect the Security Engineer to deploy often under this contract.
How often you expect the use of a Security Engineer to be deployed to the field under this contract?
The Government does not expect the Security Engineer to deploy often under this contract. The Government mainly needs Field Service Representatives capable of setting up and training personnel on the system, and some field level maintenance, if required. The total number of Field Service Representatives could vary depended on how many systems are fielded.
Is this contract mostly to supply the SSS Technologies composed of hardware and software, with training in the US?
SSS training will be primarily in the United States although there will be some training required overseas by Field Service Representatives. SSS is not currently being fielded to specific units, some units may fall in on the equipment in theater without the opportunity to train before deploying.
