1. Question: Is MGM brakes the sole source for the chamber housing?

1. Answer: Brand Name or equal to The MGM Brakes part numbers noted on the “Original Drawings”. If quoting other than the MGM Brakes part numbers please provide all drawings and specification sheets of the alternate source with your quote.

2. Question: Is the abrasive blasting process MIL-DTL-53072E just for the inside of the NPC and PC?

2. Answer: The media blasting is to remove the paint from original manufacturing in preparation for the modification welding processes on the NPC. The PC does not need any modification. Therefore, any and all other parts in the assembly, with the exception of the NPC shall be in as OEM manufactured condition or equivalent.

3. Question: Is the intent of the MIL-PRF-24635E Type V class 3 coating for internal NPC and PC only?

3. Answer: The PC does not get modified. The finish call out is for all surfaces of the NPC. If the PC OEM finish has been damaged and is unserviceable, the PC can be finished in the same manner as the NPC, (media blasted to bare metal and refinished).

4. Question: Will the chambers external parts need to be coated as well?

4. Answer: There is no assembly finish call out on the Service and Spring chambers. Each individual part must maintain its finish quality in the final assemblies.

5. Question: Is there a suggested supplier for the MIL-PRF-24635E Type V coating, as we are having trouble locating a supplier of the Type V?

5. Answer: Sherwin Williams POLYSILOXANE XLE-80 meets the Type V requirements.

6. Question: Drawing Request: Could you please send copies of drawings 17002C3131 & 17002C1131? The port drawings 17002C3130 & 17002C1130 refer to these as "Make From" parts.

7. Question: Finish: Would either of our standard finishes meet the drawings finish requirement?

*If you will be applying a CARC topcoat we use a black e-coat finish per MIL-DTL-53084B. This keeps the threads free from excessive paint The all over CARC specification has been removed from the drawing and replaced.
*If not, where can we obtain paint chip 37030 for color matching? I don't see that chip called out in MIL-PRF-24635E. The chip number on the drawings is a typo. It should be chip number 37038 Black.

6 and 7 Answer: Regarding the finish. The service chamber drawings were revised for the finish to be MIL-PRF-24635E Type V, color 37038. Which is black, two part, exterior (implement) enamel. Essentially, the same automotive paint already used in production. We want the automotive epoxy vendors already use, to make things straight forward. All drawings in U:\sd\USMC LVSR Brake Mod are the correct revision as of this moment.

NOTE: The chip number on the drawings is a typo. It should be chip number 37038 Black.

8. Question: Vent improvement:

8. Answer: With Regards to any design changes. MJW1216AT063 is the correct and desired part.

9. Question: All of the drawings have note 16: "Visually inspect PC for finish serviceability. If unserviceable finish PC per MIL-PRF-24635E Type V Class 3, Chip Number 37030, Black."

9. Answer: With regards to the finish. The chip number on the drawings is a typo. It should be chip number 37038 Black.
