About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a federal contract opportunity involving building renovation and maintenance work.

The project scope includes brick cornice rebuild work on the building envelope as needed, with salvaged brick designated for the north elevation and new brick for the south elevation. Interior work requires full cleaning and disinfection of the building. Metal shelves are to be disposed of by the contractor per General DEMO Note "C" on Drawing A-101. A standalone keypad system (not networked) is required per keynote #2 on Drawing A-101. One coiling overhead door with internal framing is required to replace an existing sliding wood door, with stainless steel construction including hinges and strike. The door operator requires 120/208 1-phase voltage. Transformer testing requirements are specified in Electrical Note "E" on drawing MEP-101. Traprock dryshake is required, with the contractor submitting product information of their choosing for government approval.

Text version

1. Is the brick cornice rebuild limited to the top two courses, only where the top course is out of level by more than 1.5°, totaling approximately 300 LF as stated in Sheet Note B?

Sheet Note B: refers to the entire building envelope as needed

2. Or do the Keynote 1 locations indicate additional or fuller cornice rebuild beyond the conditions in Sheet Note B? If so, please identify those locations and the extent of rebuild at each.

Keynote 1: is for the cornice work in the areas identified with Keynote 1.

3. Confirm the brick-sourcing rule in Note B (salvaged brick to north elevation, new brick to south elevation) governs all cornice rebuild work, including Keynote 1 locations.

Use existing bricks, when possible, where not possible match exiting b rick in color, size and finish; use available existing bricks on the North elevation with new brick being relegated to the South elevation.

4. Please clarify if the intention of this project is to fully clean and disinfect the entirety of the building interior.

Yes.

5. Are the metal shelves inside the building being disposed of? If so, who is responsible for disposal?

See General DEMO Note “C” on Drawing A-101. Contractor is responsible.

6. A-101 call for a keypad on keynote #2. Is this a standalone system or is there a network within the building that we need to tie the cables to?

Stand Alone. There is no Network in the building.

7. Can the Government clarify exactly what is wanted as far as testing the existing transformer? We see nothing in the specifications.

See note Electrical Note “E” on drawing MEP-101.

7. Confirm the total number of coiling overhead doors required under this project. The solicitation narrative references a new coiling overhead door replacing the existing sliding wood door; however, please confirm whether one (1) or more coiling doors are required.

1 Door as indicated on Drawing.

8. Confirm the mounting configuration for the coiling overhead door. Is the door intended to be installed as an interior-mounted or exterior-mounted assembly?

Internal Framing Required.

9. Please provide the required operating voltage and phase for the door operator/motor?

120/208 1PH.

10. Prints show stainless steel material. Is this correct, and if so, does that include all metal parts of the door?

Yes Hinges, strike.

11. Reading the spec and I noticed it talks about traprock dryshake. Is that actually needed? It doesn’t call out a manufacturer, brand, type, etc.

Yes, Contractor to submit product info of their choosing for approval.
