About this file

This is a Scope of Work document for external gear cutting finishing services. The vendor will receive five semi-finished part blanks from the customer and perform final gear cutting operations to meet specifications detailed in engineering drawings. The vendor's responsibilities include receiving and inspecting parts, performing gear cutting to achieve final tooth profile and dimensions, deburring all machined features, conducting final inspection to verify quality requirements, and packaging/returning finished parts with required quality documentation. The customer will supply five semi-finished part blanks machined to near-net shape, complete engineering drawings for each part detailing final gear dimensions and tolerances, STEP file models, and gages if needed per drawing callouts. Vendors have the option to quote machining the parts complete in accordance with drawings as an alternative to performing only the gear cutting operation.

The final deliverables consist of a minimum of 108 parts total: 36 units of GEAR SECTOR MACH. (10925678), 18 units each of GEARSHAFT BEVEL (10923030), GEAR RING MACH. (10925680), GEARSHAFT BEVEL (10953662), and GEAR (10925679). All parts must be gear cutting completed, deburred, and cleaned. Five different part numbers are specified with corresponding drawing revisions and specifications, including spur gears, bevel gears, and gears with involute splines. The vendor must provide a complete quality documentation package for each part, including a Gear Inspection Report detailing tooth measurements (single pitch deviation, total cumulative pitch deviation, total profile deviation, total helix deviation, runout, timing, and tooth thickness), a Dimensional Inspection Report confirming all dimensions affected by gear cutting are within specified tolerances, and a Certificate of Conformance signed by an authorized quality representative certifying compliance with all customer drawing and scope of work requirements.

Updated Scope of Work: External Gear Cutting Finishing Services

1. Project Overview & Scope of Services

The customer will provide five (5) semi-finished part blanks to the vendor. The vendor's sole responsibility is to perform the final gear cutting operation to the specifications detailed in the engineering drawings and this document.

The scope of the vendor's services includes:

• Receiving and inspecting the customer-supplied semi-finished parts.

• Performing the gear cutting operation to achieve the final tooth profile and dimensions.

• Deburring all machined features.

• Conducting a final inspection to verify that the gear cutting meets all quality requirements.

• Packaging and returning the finished parts with the required quality documentation.

2. Customer-Supplied Items

The customer will provide the following to the vendor:

• Five (5) semi-finished part blanks, machined to the near-net shape required for the gear cutting process.

• Complete engineering drawings for each of the five parts, detailing the final gear dimensions and tolerances.

• Part models will be provided as STEP files.

• Gages will be provided if needed, per drawing callouts.

3. Vendor Options

• Vendors have the option to quote machining the parts complete, in accordance with the drawings, as an alternative to performing only the gear cutting operation.

4. Final Gear Specifications

The vendor must finish the gear cutting on the five parts to meet the following final specifications:

5. Required Quality Control Documentation

The vendor is required to perform a thorough inspection of their work and provide a documentation package with the returned parts. This package must include the following for each part:

Document Requirement

Gear Inspection Report

A detailed report of all gear tooth measurements taken after the cutting operation. This must include, at a minimum: single pitch deviation, total cumulative pitch deviation, total profile deviation, total helix deviation, runout, gear to gear and/or gear to spline timing, and tooth thickness.

Dimensional Inspection Report

A report confirming that all dimensions affected by the gear cutting process are within the tolerances specified on the engineering drawing.

Certificate of Conformance (CoC)

A document signed by an authorized quality representative from the vendor, certifying that the gear cutting services performed meet all requirements specified in the customer's drawings and this scope of work.

6. Final Deliverables

The vendor's final delivery to the customer will consist of:

• A minimum of 108 parts, comprising 18 units of each of four-part numbers and one part number of 36 units with gear cutting completed, deburred, and cleaned. See the chart below.

• A complete quality documentation package for each part, as detailed in Section 5.
