W50S98-24-B-0008 PSXE 242029 Repair TEC Recreational Areas Pre-Bid Questions

1. On drawing C2.3, detail A11 shows a post-tensioned concrete pavement. This method would be significantly more costly than a traditional cast in place 4" inch thick concrete slab with welded wire mesh. If it is anticipated to have foot traffic only then we would recommend a traditional cast in place 4" inch thick concrete slab with welded wire mesh for a more economical cost than a post-tension slab. Please bid per the drawings and specifications.

2. I have examined the drawings and I have not found any dimensions for the roof. Are there other drawings that are not listed yet, which include dimensions? It is not possible to figure the tapered ISO as well as the cricket ISO without dimensions. The drawing also calls for cover board, but gives no thickness. It also calls for walk pads. Without building dimensions we cannot figure the total quantity.

Contractor had the opportunity to conduct site visits to conduct field measurements and verify dimensions. Dimensions will not be provided at this time.

3. The SOW says to demo and replace existing running track surface. However, the plans do not appear to show the existing running track surface to be removed. Is the running track surface to be removed and replaced?

The existing track surface is to be demoed and removed prior to application of the new Novatrack surface. After the demolition of the existing surface, the surface should be prepared in accordance with the Novatrack manufacturer's recommendations.

4. If the running track surface is to be replaced please identify the thickness of the surface.

The thickness of the existing track surface is unknown, contractor to verify. Assume 1/2" or less for the surface thickness.

5. Is the existing running track surface on a concrete pad.

The existing running track surface is on asphalt.

6. It is unclear what the material of the running track is made of. Is it asphalt, or a rubberized aggregate surface, etc?

Existing surface is polyurethane.

7. If the track surface is not to be replaced then how do we remove the existing Novatrack surface to apply the new surface?

This is a means and methods question, left to Contractor.

8. Please provide a section of the running track assembly cutting through the header curbs, the surface layers and the base.

We do not have that information.

9. Does the new communications for the timing pedestal tie into an existing system or network on campus?

a. Refer to “Timing Pedestal Detail” on Sheet E1.1 for connection to existing communications manhole. Reference to detail A6 on sheet C2.5 should refer to C2.2.

10. If the new communications ties into an existing system or network please clearly identify where this tie in is to occur.

See revised sheet C1.1.

11. If the new communications ties into an existing system or network please clearly identify the distance away from the timing pedestal to the tie in location.

See revised sheet C1.1.

12. Is there any programming associated with tying in the new communications for the timing pedestal?

N/A

13. Sheet C1.2 calls for the new 4” perf drain at the concrete knee wall to be tied into 18” storm drain. Where does this tie-in occur?

See sheet C1.2. Dashed line connecting to existing 18”. Connection occurs at the same location as the note leader indicates.

14. Sheet C1.1 shows several runs of PVC and HDPE storm draining. Is any of this storm drainage new? Please clearly identity all new and existing storm lines, grates and manholes.

See Sheet C1.2 for all new HDPE storm lines.

15. Pin general please clearly identify all new and existing underground utilities shown on the plans.

See attached revised Sheet C1.1.

16. Sheet C1.1 shows several underground communication lines. Obviously, there is a new comm line from the new timing pedestal to the communication box next to the flag pole to be removed, but is there any other new underground comm lines or boxes? Please clearly identify new and existing.

See attached revised Sheet C1.1.

17. The SOW says to include water stations but there is only one shown at the Exercise Stations. Is this the only water station?

There is only one water station. See Detail A10 on Sheet C2.1.

18. Does the exercise station pad need to be post tension concrete to match that of the PT Test area?

No. See Detail A10 on Sheet C2.1.

19. The existing track is caulked on both sides between the track surface and the header curbs. Will this caulk need to be removed and replaced?

Yes, the caulk should be removed prior to the installation of the new track surface and replaced after the new track surface is installed and per Novatrack’s recommendations for edge conditions.

20. Sheet C1.1 calls for Vividplay rubber playground tile at the new PT Test area. Does the concrete slab at the area of floor tiles need to be recessed so the surface of the tile is flush with the surface of the Novatrack application on the surrounding concrete slab?

The entire PT Test Run/Sit-up Area shall have the Novabond surface applied. The floor tiles shall be installed on top of the surface, not recessed. Please utilize the 8” deep beveled tile pieces by Vividplay around the sides and the edge closest to the PT Test Run area.

21. Please provide a basis of design for the timer to be used at the timing pedestal.

N/A

22. Sheets E1.1 and E2.1 show new light poles on new bases, but the only note found says new light poles on existing bases. Please identify any new light pole bases.

a. Note #8 does not apply. Associated with PSXE242020

23. Do all concrete joints receive compression seals in the joints in addition to backer rod and caulking?

A 1/2” expansion joint shall be installed at all locations where new sidewalk meets existing sidewalk. Additionally, a 1/2” expansion joint shall be installed between new sidewalk and the exercise station concrete as well as between the exercise station concrete and the post tensioned PT Test concrete.

24. Sheet C2.2 calls out 4 6’ benches from Global Industrial with Blue Fusion Guard finish to match existing. A photo of the existing benches have been provided to Global Industrial and said they do not have a bench with blue fusion guard finish or anything which matches the look. Please provide more information regarding the bench to be used on this project.

Existing benches are manufactured by Global Industrial. Every effort should be made by the Contractor to match existing benches in finish protection and color. COR shall have final approval.

25. Please provide information regarding the criteria for passing or failing a background check. What types of offenses are allowed and which are not allowed?

This will be addressed on a case by case basis during the badging process.

26. On drawing E1.1the far left and far right pole lights have “Note 2” listed for them which states “Existing pole light fixture to remain. No work.” The fixtures and pole bases are shown in dark black which typically indicates new work along with an “S2” for the fixture type which is shown in the fixture schedule. Is there work to be done on these two poles or are they “No work” as stated in Note 2?

a. No work as stated in Note #2.

27. On drawing E1.1 Note 3 states “Existing light fixture to be replaced. Remove existing pole and pole base and rework circuit to new pole and pole base location as shown”. We cannot locate a Note 3 on the drawing. Does this note apply?

a. Note #3 does not apply. Associated with PSXE242020

28. Per note 9 on drawing E1.1, where is the “existing site lighting panel” located?

a. It is believed that the existing site lighting panel is located with the Transformer at the rear of Building 207, Contractor to verify.

29. Per note 12 on drawing E1.1 states to refer to sheet C2.5 detail A6 and sheet C1.1. Sheet C2.5 does not exist. Please advise.

a. Reference to detail A6 on sheet C2.5 should refer to C2.2.

30. On drawing E1.1 Note 8 states “new pole, base and fixture. Connect to existing circuitry as shown”. We cannot locate a note 8 on the drawing. Does this note apply?

a. Note #8 does not apply. Associated with PSXE242020

31. Per the light fixture schedule on drawing E2.1 it shows a fixture type S4. We cannot locate a fixture type S4 on the drawings. Does this fixture type apply?

a. Fixture does not apply. Associated with PSXE242020

32. Per the “pole base detail” on drawing E2.1, it shows for fixture types S2, S4 and S5. There are no fixture type S5’s in the light fixture schedule. Only S2, S3 and S4. Should there be a type S5 in the fixture schedule or should the pole base detail be for types S2, S3 and S4?

a. Pole base detail for fixture types S2, S3 and S4. Ignore reference to S5.
