About this file
This is a technical specification diagram for mooring point installation on existing rigid pavement with thickness greater than 150 millimeters (6 inches), effective as of Change 3, dated 4 February 2020.
The specification establishes requirements for drilling a 300-millimeter (12-inch) diameter core hole through existing pavement and installing a mooring device flush with the existing pavement surface. The installation must maintain a minimum 600-millimeter (24-inch) clearance between the core hole and existing construction joints or contraction joints. The core hole shall be roughened by sand blasting to a minimum depth of 50 millimeters (2 inches). Concrete placement requirements specify a minimum compressive strength of 41.4 megapascals (6000 psi), with concrete placed in at least two lifts and consolidated by internal vibration to allow controlled subsidence ("mushroom") below the existing slab. The mooring device details are referenced in Figure B11-1. The plan view is oriented to North, True South (N.T.S.).
