| 1 | Front Gate Asphalt Work |
#1 – During the site visit, Government informed us that a contract requirement for the asphalt work is that the entrance gate is to remain open during install. This gate closes at 3 pm each day and we were informed no Saturday work. This gate is busy in the mornings until at least 8 am. This limits the working hours. On similar projects in the past the gate just south of the running track has been utilized during construction. The asphalt work can be completed in 3-4 days with full access to the front gate. 1 day for milling, 1-2 day for asphalt, 1 day for the pavement striping. Requiring the asphalt work to be done in phases and keeping the gate open will increase the cost of the installation. Should the other gate not be an option and phasing be required, please provide how many phases are needed? North and South phase?
Is it acceptable for POV vehicles to drive on milled surface? Per the Statement of Work: "iii) 2.) Base traffic is not permitted to drive on planed asphalt concrete surface."
An uninterrupted lane shall be maintained at the Existing Main Gate for the duration of the project in order to maintain rapid ingress/egress for emergency vehicle and Contractor vehciles. The contractor shall schedule/sequence work in such a manner to maintain at least one lane throughout construction. The Zistel Street gate is available for alternate use during construction but can not be used solely.
| 2 | Will the existing portable barriers be able to be stored on site or will they have to | ||
| be moved to a different location? | The existing portable barriers can be used as temporary construction barricades and any excess barriers can be stored in the AAFES / PX Parking lot. Contractor will responsible to restore barriers to original configuration post-project. (See, Barrier Storage Drawing) | ||
| 3 | The "shoulder repair" detail is for grass and seed and straw. Are we not adding asphalt pavement to this location?? | No, This area is currently grass that has been packed down by trucks running over it throughout time as they turn. The intent is to restore the area and for it to reamain grass. |
