SECTION SF 30 BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
SUMMARY OF CHANGES
SECTION SF 30 - BLOCK 14 CONTINUATION PAGE
The following have been added by full text:
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION 1-2
Q1- Section 2.1.7 states to Install Sure Protection Devices to protect all F/A and Releasing panels. The (6) Potter releasing panels already have Surge Protection devices installed. Only the (2) Monaco fire alarm panels did not have Surge Protection devices. Should we price only the 2 new Surge Protection devices for the Monaco fire alarm panels?
A1- If the Surge Protection Devices for the (6) Potter releasing panels are sufficient and working properly, only the 2 new Surge Protection Devices for Monaco are required.
Q2- Section 2.1.5.5 states to install new wire “as required”. Reading further into Section 2.1.5.5, it also states to pull all conductors splice free. Most of the foam and fire alarm devices utilize shared conduit back to the panels. To pull new wire, splice free, would entail pulling all new wire back to the panels. This would most likely require pulling out all of the existing wire and re-pulling it back in the conduit when the new wire for the foam stop devices are pulled. Doing such adds a considerable amount of scope to the work. Is it acceptable to only install new wire where we are installing new conduit for the devices? This would entail splicing the existing wire w/ new wire for the new foam stops, and any relocation of existing fire alarm devices that is required. In the event that we are required to install new wire all the way back to the panels, we would need the as-built/floor plan asap to price in all of the wire/footages.
A2- As long as NFPA/NEC/other applicable codes are met, it is acceptable to only install new wire where installing new conduit for the devices.
