Request for Information Log: VGLZ222007 Install new generator Building 32/W50S8524B0010
1. Are there any sound attenuating/maximum dba level requirements for the generator?
A. This requirement is not specified, but all environmental requirements will be the driving factor
2. Is the generator rated for 300kW or 450kW? Section 01 00 00 calls out both.
A. Drawing and SOW show 300KW at 480 voltage 3 phase, Disregard paragraph 3 stating 450KW in SOW
3. Is the ATS to be installed within MDP or is it a standalone unit? Are we expected to provide an open unit (no enclosure) ATS?
A. The drawing and SOW clearly state, “New ATS in place of existing metering section”.
Meaning MDP metering section shall be demolished to install the New ATS.
4. Section 01 00 00 statement #3 asks for the ATS to be close transition service rated with maintenance and multimeters/CT’s. Should this ATS include any metering accessories, or is this a part of MDP or upstream incoming metering cabinet? Does the ATS need an integral service breaker/disconnect? If so, we will need to provide it as its own standalone unit with an enclosure.
A. This question is not clear, Standalone system is required to be installed in place of the existing metering section of existing MDP. Follow SOW and drawings. Metering will need to be added to the existing MDP main section.
5. Please confirm that the generator will need to be loaded for 24 hours, and all testing done on the weekends.
A. Load Testing shall be performed by manufacture specs and weekend testing is not a requirement.
6. Is this application NFPA-110, do we need to include a remote annunciator and e-stop? Are NFPA 110 acceptance tests required?
A. All requirements of the drawings and SOW shall be followed as well as Code and other addressed requirements, the Base maintenance staff will perform the monthly inspections per NFPA 110 after acceptance.
7. The one-line mentions 300kW and scope of work states a 450k. Please provide clarification.
A. See above answer 2, disregard paragraph 3 in SOW regarding 450KW
8. Is this diesel or Nat Gas?
A. Diesel Per drawing and SOW, “new outdoor rain tight, watertight 300 kW, 480/277 volt, 3 ph, 4 W diesel generator with new battery, new battery charger, muffler, new double wall base tank, space heater as required and all required equipment and materials “The Contractor shall provide and install minimum 430-gallon double wall above ground base tank sized for at least 24 hours of operation without the need of refuelling. Tank must be in accordance with secondary containment requirements”.
9. Please see SOW for all Code and specifications for the new 300KW generator.
10. The generator is called out to run on diesel fuel; however, the location of the generator is within 10’ of the building, and these generators must be 10’ or more away from the building per standard practices. Will this rule still apply, or will there be an alternate solution?
A. Reference to NFPA 37 § 4.1. 4 which prescribes a minimum distance of 5 feet from a generator (including and engine-mounted tank) to a building.
