About this file
This document contains questions and answers related to federal contract solicitation W50S7L-23-Q-0002 for service entrance switch gear. The solicitation is seeking a double sided switch gear unit with three phase tripping capabilities on all ways to avoid any single phasing issues. A SEL relay is preferred for voltage sensing and overcurrent protection. The trip range should be electronically configurable between 30A to 600A. Front or front-back access configurations are acceptable to meet dimensional requirements. Motorized actuators are required for all ways along with a portable motor control to allow for local disconnect operation without a hotstick.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS RELATED TO :
SOLICITATION W50S7L-23-Q-0002
As of 11 September 2023
Q8. 1. Do you want visible break source way?
A8. Yes MT ANG.
Q9. Is visible break required on feeder (fault interrupter) side not required-Ways 2-
4?
A9. Yes
Q10. Will switch want voltage sensing monitoring?
A10. Yes
Q11. If yes, is it required on source way (Way 1)? And if voltage sensing monitor is needed, is an SEL relay acceptable? Is Type 2 Vacuum Interrupter Control or is
SEL relay preferred?
A11. SEL relay preferred for all ways for voltage sensing monitor and overcurrent protection.
Q12. What is the required trip range: 30A-600A please confirm.
A12. Trip range 30A-600A, Electronically configurable
Q13. Spec called for 600A Bushings, but previous switchgear called for 200A
Bushings. Please confirm which one is preferred?
A13. 200A Bushings
Q14. Spec calls for Front access only. To meet dimensions, is front-back acceptable to meet pad dimensions?
A14. Front-back is acceptable.
Q15. Can Buy American document be provided at later date than when bid is due?
A15. Yes
Q16. Spec calls for Front access only. To meet dimensions, is front-back acceptable to meet pad dimensions?
A16. Front-back is acceptable.
Q17. The pictures show a pad mount double-side unit with single-phase trip Ways ganged together, but the spec calls out front access to cable and operators and three phase. Do you know if they want a single side or double-sided unit and if all Ways should be 3 phase trip to avoid single phasing?
A17. Double sided is acceptable. And Yes we want all 3 phases to trip.
Q18. The specification lists motor actuators for all Ways and portable motor control. Is the customer looking for a device to be able to operate the motors locally without having to use a hotstick?
A18. Yes we would like to avoid using a hotstick to disconnect.
Q19. They have an issue with single phasing now, so does that mean that they would like to move to a 3PH trip on all ways? Or is a 1PH trip still required on the protected ways? If that is the case, and they still require a single phase trip, motor operators will not be available on those ways. Is this acceptable?
A19. We do not want a single phase trip. All three phases need to trip in the event of a single phase fault.
