Request For Information_Bid Period #1

1. Ref. Drawing E1.1, is the existing lighting for the existing portion of the awning being replaced to match existing or not being replaced at all? Is this properly clarified in the specifications?

a. Response: Existing lighting under the canopy is intended to remain without modification.

2. Ref. Drawing A2.2 and A2.3, Can Gov’t provide a clarified gutter design? where is the water draining for the last 2’ 4” off the new roof? Are there gutters to be put in on columns matching existing? How are we getting roof drainage into the structural tubing?

a. Response: The design intent is to utilize the aluminum canopy system structure (fascia, drain beams, and columns) to direct stormwater to the underground storm water conveyance system. Refer to detail 3/A2.2 and detail 5/A2.2 (added in addendum no. 1) for addition information.

3. Ref. Section 10-7200, Par. 1.05, pg. 101, is the contractor supposed to get a separate engineer design as stated here?

a. Response: Yes. Canopy manufacturer shall provide engineered shop drawings, stamped and signed by an engineer registered in the state of Alabama, documenting system to be provided meets and exceeds the specified loading requirements.

4. Is the comm vault incorporated into the new concrete pad and is it rated for traffic weight? If it is not rated and is to be incorporated as part of the new pad, is a new vault covering required?

a. Response: Comm vault is not rated for traffic weight. The intent of the drawings is to leave the existing vault in place and install bollards around the vault to prevent the vault from experiencing traffic loading.
