3 . REQUIREMENTS

"3.1 Description (See 4.18) - The Altimeter Set provides a con-tinuous indication of absolute altitude of an aircraft above the sur-face of the earth and the features upon it by transmitting a radio frequency signal in the range of 4200 to 4400 MHz to the ground, re-ceiving the reflected signal and indicates the altitude of the aircraft on the IRT unit and a remote indicator. The Altimeter set operates from an aircraft supply having a nominal voltage of 27.5 volts DC. Absolute altitude indications are accomplished by the use of the units listed in 1.1. The Receiver-Transmitter, Height Indicator (IRT) or Receiver-Transmitter (RT) transmits a radio frequency signal, receives the reflected signal, and derives the proper signals for O to 1500 feet radar altitude in accordance with the requirements of this specification. In addition, the Receiver- Transmitter, Height Indicator displays analog altitude, digital altitude and high and low altitude warnings. It provides these signals along with an auxiliary analog altitude signal, a reliability signal and a self test confidence signal. The Receiver-Transmitter also provides the auxiliary analog altitude, reliability and self test confidence signals. The Receiver-Transmitter, Height Indicator or Receiver-Transmitter shall be capable of driving a remote Height Indicator (RI).
