Additional Questions and Answers on the Draft RFP M1061

20. Is the LCP "Insert Frag Matrix (13008597)" intended to first be molded, then spheres loaded, then

LCP over molded?

A20: The process is at the discretion of the contractor. The final FI must contain only the materials

LCP30, tungsten fragments, and the aluminum insert.

21. Is the larger W alloy shot located only within in the helical grooves of the Insert Frag Matrix?

A21: Assuming the question is ".... within the interior helical groves" then the answer is yes. The groves correlate to the shot size.

22. Are there ID and OD helical grooves, both 4 starts per helical pattern?

A22: Yes

23. Are both loaded with shot?

A23: Yes

24. What is the distribution and location of the 2 shot sizes within the matrix?

A24: The matrix is designed with respect to shot sizes.

25. Are the 2 shot sizes inter mixed?

A25: No, the two shot types should remain separate.

26. Is the smaller shot loaded only in the longitudinal channels of the "Insert Frag Matrix"?

A26: No, the longitudinal channels are there to aid in FI manufacture

27 Are the small shot spheres located only closest to fuze end as noted, or also distributed throughout the matrix (intermixed with large shot), as required, to fulfill mass + CG requirements?

A27: The small fragments are distributed throughout the matrix.

28. Is the "Insert Aluminum (13008596)" intended to be over molded by the Insert Frag Matrix, or by the second injection molded frag encapsulation shot that produces the "Alternative Fragment Insert

(13008598)"? If not over molded, please describe how this component is attached to the assembly

A28: See answer A1. Furthermore there are features on both the matrix frag insert and aluminum insert that enable an interface between those two components.
